Perhaps the true #ff was all the friends we made along the way. 🤔
Mastodon Behavior, Subtooting
Further testing reveals in the web UI that if I reload the page, the notification reappears. Clicking on it will again make it disappear, but then reloading the whole page will restore it. I'm guessing that this means there's an order-of-operations problem in the loading of notifications.
Interestingly, right-clicking on the time of the notification takes me to a new window which shows all of the posts. This may be a federation issue. @Gargron?
Mastodon Behavior, Subtooting
Also, important note:
In the Mastodon web UI, if you click on a notification from a user that's blocked you, the notification will disappear. Doing the same in Subway Tooter just causes a 404 to get reported, but the notification doesn't go away. Interesting UX discrepancy between toolsets. How do Tusky and Amaroq behave in this situation? What's the expected outcome?
PSA: careful with letsencrypt if you hard redirect http->https. It looks like it might not retry the challenge. https://github.com/certbot/certbot/issues/5019
Foodcrimes-To-Be, Memes
We bought wonton wrappers at the store to make pork-and-carrot dumplings for dinner this weekend. Then @adeptomega asked if we could put hamburger gravy in dumplings, and I thought, "why not? We can do anything we possess der Wille zur Macht. So then, we need a dessert, so I thought, "mango smoothie dumplings."
Take two ripe mangoes, blend into paste with a cup of yoghurt, cardamom, cinnamon, and ginger powder. Fill wonton wrappers, then chill. Deep fry in ghee.
Bodies, Gross (Seriously, don't read this.)
Ever had a day right after you injure yourself where you don't hurt but you're hypersensitive in the injured area because all the nerves are just coming off of red alert?
That's where I am with my bladder this morning. The pain is gone, I'm passing without incident, but everything is sensitive and uncomfortable. I'm still calling out sick so I can be close to the plumbing and painkillers just in case.
Medical, Bodies (CW: Pain)
@literorrery Pain has mostly subsided but isn't gone. Calling out from work tomorrow to heal and confirm I've passed whatever it was. Going to try to sleep.
Medical, Bodies (CW: Pain)
Ah, yes. The pain in my lower right back over the last few days that I thought were a pulled muscle may have in fact been a kidney stone. I suspect this because I can't presently urinate and I've drunk a large glass of cranberry juice and water to help flush it. I can pee in short spurts -- ha ha ow -- but I can't actually empty my bladder fully.
Home from work, painkillers, fluids. May update from ER later. Hopefully not!
Dedication
"If you're using ritual to replace action," the apprentice said, "you aren't doing the Work." And that's true. Sometimes the ritual is the first step towards change, but it can't be the last. The ritual is a step towards managing the internal landscape that makes change possible and conscious. It isn't change unto itself.
