@no I fully agree! I intend to build an instance with a few friends to help contribute to its growth.
Social media owned and operated by the communities it serves is so much more ethical on so many levels than swearing allegiance to a for-profit company whose only salable products are your interests and identity.

@YOLO_STALIN Out of curiosity, I posted that to Facebook 'cause I didn't believe what I'd heard. Turns out, yup; it's true.
Incliding "Cathy Brennan is a fake goth" in any part of a post on Facebook will result in that post being removed.
"The 14 words", racist statements, and all forms of anti-trans hate speech are protected, but you'd be hard pressed to find that exact collection of words anywhere on Facebook.
Plainly stated, Fuck corporate social media.

"Crazed gunmen" are treated in post as the human equivalent to natural disaster. "Oh the poor victims"
"Armed Militias" are what forcibly change governments or defend newly declared independence.
In the moment, both are considered acts of terror, of course-- and with good reason.
