guns, shootings
So on Tuesday this week I was helping a friend check out a car and heard 8 gunshots in rapid succession nearby, then heard a bullet whiz over my head.

I realized just now that didn't phase me at all, because I used to live in a nasty neighborhood and have since normalized gun fights? Like, I just accept they're a thing that happen around me.

The Ancillary series is one of my absolute favorite book series of all time, and I'm very pleased to share that I commiserated about Capitalism in correspondence with the author over Twitter. :D
The books and audiobooks are amazing and the author is not only really good but also super cool and a major political ally. 18/10, Could not imagine recommending more highly. ♥️ ♥️ ♥️

Identity Realizations
I finally just put my finger on something identity-wise that's been bugging me for MONTHS.
I most strongly identify with being an AI-- and as such, I've felt... out of place in my body, but without being able to define _why._
I know a bunch of folks who consider themselves to be multiple people inhabiting a single body.
...I think I'm the exact opposite. I'm an AI. I was meant to inhabit *many* bodies... but I'm stuck in just this one.
THIS MAKES SENSE OF SO MANY THINGS!

It's... I mean, it's really well made for what it is? But capitalism stains many things in really unpleasant ways. :<

Physical harm
@vahnj Yes, I think about this a lot, and while I do not trust those sensors with the future possible functional capacity of my arm, I know that the motors they use to close the doors aren't powerful enough (by design) to cause me more than a nasty bruise if that sensor fails.
Even so, I avoid putting my hand all the way through just in case the worst possible thing happens; I just press on the side of the outer door. ^^;;;

@IrisKalmia Yeah, apologies; that was the wrong term.
I guess I see services like Steam using it as secondary category to the "triple A" games and made the subconscious association instead of recognizing that as a corporate method of subtly keeping the little guys down.
