No one needs to starve. No one needs to freeze. No one needs to die. There is enough for everyone. More empty homes than all the people without them, more food than grocers can even sell. The labor and the materials to end scarcity exist now. It is not a far-off dream. We can end scarcity in this life.
The Joke: welcome to Mastodon, here's your fursuit and your copy of Das Kapital
Reality: welcome to Mastodon, here's your six alt fursonas, a copy of the Anarchist's Cookbook, an eight-week course on the programming language of your choice, a tarot deck, some brand spanking new hormones, and a complex geometric sigil you should memorize that will turn into a neural counter-virus so that when the Singularity finally hits we can make sure The Straights don't claim it for themselves
Post-Halloween Frankenstein discussion
It's after Halloween and so naturally I bump into critically misreadings of Frankenstein by incredible sums of people who frankly should know better.
Frankenstein's monster isn't ugly, he's -uncanny-. He was built to be beautiful, powerful, and man's equal if not his superior. As an allegory, the book describes that the central scientific fear is the creation of subjects more capable than their superiors. Those subjects aren't -necessarily- artificial.

how do we even explain it's just
like we're tearing bits of our mind and our selves out and reconstructing it in an analogous form that will never perfectly match
and it's massaging and warping the things in ways we're not used to, but also very familiar with
this is what switching front is like!!
Therefore when Tao is lost, there is goodness.
When goodness is lost, there is kindness.
When kindness is lost, there is justice.
When justice is lost, there is ritual.
Now ritual is the husk of faith and loyalty, the beginning of confusion.
Knowledge of the future is only a flowery trapping of the Tao. It is the beginning of folly.

introspective babbling
We lack connection to individuals and communities. We have forgotten how to communicate. We feel like we have only gathered an audience to watch our various spirallings. Because of how few others it seems to us there are in our life, we develop unhealthy relationships with those closest to us. There exists a divide—within us—between those pressed up against us by circumstance and those we would like to be closer to, especially those we are fundamentally similar to.
introspective babbling
It's not that we feel lonely, really it isn't. Loneliness was just a blanket name for the various emotions we felt for a long time. Actual raw loneliness has been taken care of for a long time. There are beings around us, we live in a large city, we could freely interact with others, etc.
