also I don't think most people here want a completely open platform, the point of federation is choice, instance blocking (or in our case, allowlisting) is a thing for a reason. There have been instances purely for harassment ever since Mastodon started

Geflüchtetenunterkunft Bochum
Hallo, vielleicht hat jemand Tipps für mich, an wen ich mich wenden kann. Ich stehe in Kontakt zu zwei Stundentinnen, die in einer Bochumer Geflüchtetenunterkunft wohnen. Dort soll das Essen so schlecht sein, dass sie zwischenzeitlich ins Krankenhaus mussten. Als sie wieder in der Unterkunft waren, haben sie sich dort selbst Essen gekocht, obwohl es verboten war. Daraufhin sind sie vom Sicherheitspersonal bedroht worden und rausgeschmissen, mussten eine ...

money request, for food & public transport
Hey all, as much as I hate having to do this I need to feed myself for the next few days while I'm travelling. I've spent the last of my personal funds over the past couple days and my phone contract just put me into -£0.15 which is frustrating. Any donations to keep me going until I get back to Finland on Tuesday night are much appreciated. 
Please pay via PayPal if possible since funds come through instantly for that, otherwise I will have to wait for stripe to process payments which can take up to a week.
