@tasket hm, it's not trivial to rewrite links like that (and Mastodon the software allows for arbitrary links, so it's certainly not an easy problem to solve)

also a browser extensions largely don't work on phones

really, a lot of people have thought about this and "click this button, enter your username" or "copy the link into your preferred Mastodon frontend's search bar" is a pretty good solution

@mcc isn't VoLTE more than enough for a good-sounding phone call? most calls to other people (businesses are so-so) I make these days use HD Voice or whatever it's called and sound fine

@tasket it's necessary if you want a link that the browser automatically associates with the instances you're actually logged in on
