PSA, mastodon dev, gargon wants to add public search
Apparently gargon wants to add indexing search to mastodon again; https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/26344
And he locked the thread after he saw it was going to be about search "again", and then just robotically said "your feedback is noted".
This change requires an instance to have added an ElasticSearch server to it, which is optional as of rn.
This change will index all public posts from any user which is "discoverable", even remote users (if the setting comes in the activitypub object, it defaults to false), this is the "suggest your account to others" setting, it's set to false by default.
