UPDATE!

I have a solid lead … thanks for all the help!

Hey, Mastodon … I’m trying to track down an #AppleNewton developer named Stephen D. Cronin.

He worked at #AMD and operated a software company called TapTech based out of Austin, Texas in the late 90s. I’ve managed to contact his former software partner, Francis Preve … but Francis lost touch with Stephen years ago.

Together they released a sequencer program for #NewtonOS called NR404 and I’m hoping the source code still exists somewhere.

@ryanhoulihan 🤷 I only use voice assistants to set timers and turn lights on/off

@ryanhoulihan I don't think it uses machine learning to "understand" text

@jn yeah that's a PS1/PS2 controller plug

@eggboycolor I just installed Garfield Kart: Furious Racing to test it and it works exactly that way for me

@eggboycolor or open it in big picture mode, there seems to be a "don't show this again" switch there

@kadse being fully enclosed has its advantages I guess but from what I've seen the door seals and panel gaps are just politely telling the water to stay out

@kadse yeah the twizy actually goes further, dang

I think my biggest issue with it is that it's a worse Canta

I think the Citroën Ami / Opel Rocks E is an adorable car but I doubt they are attractive for many people. I'd love to see more of those in the city rather than SUVs though

@ruby since the Pi 4 they can boot off of attached storage (USB3 is fast enough to see benefits). Honestly microSDs are so cheap, ubiquitous and accessible that they won't be going away anytime soon, and if you buy decent ones they last a long time (they make "industrial" microSDs for maximum endurance!). That said all storage wears out and my "home server" Pi 4 has been happily running Home Assistant on a high-quality microSD.
