@Runner Tolkien's forces of evil aren't known for being well versed in languages
@Runner except the password is in elvish, so anyone opening the door has to know both dwarvish and elvish. It's a test for whether you're a friend of the dwarves
@pup_hime lmao
@bonzoesc put the washer in the dryer but too hot so it shrinks
@sjolsen if you don't mind not having ads I can recommend https://smarttubeapp.github.io/
@cinnamon ibm thinkpup
@elilla happy birf! go steal fire from the gods or sth idk how prometheus works
@Alairthephoenix oh, the thing from the weird infomercials
it's fairly easy to make except for the part where you have to peel and slice a kilo of apples
@Alairthephoenix all I can find under that name is an inhaler, but sure
@Alairthephoenix I'm guessing they own one of those hair cutting machines
@onfy @vaporeon_ there's simply a lot of posts, metadata and stuff and it's all retained perpetually
@onfy @vaporeon_ I mean it has to store all the posts. that's kind of a fundamental feature
@goaty everyone's stuff runs on amazon's servers basically. If you wanna make your stuff accessible to anyone all over the world it's much easier to rent their stuff and have them manage running your application around the globe than deploying your own stuff
@vaporeon_ @onfy that said it's just nice to have media storage that doesn't have an upper limit. Mastodon is already storage hungry because it produces a lot of logs and a big database
@vaporeon_ @onfy awoo's media storage is roughly 260 gigabytes, we could self-host that. That's mostly our own data, we (and most instances, I think) delete remote data after a period (90 days for us bc Wasabi will bill us for 90 days anyways)
