all things considered, openmediavault 5 is pretty nice. there's some nice improvements over 4. still a bit of a hassle to configure, but once it works, it works quite nicely

if only I had a piece of software that made sure to install dependencies for stuff

finally got smb working… enough to stream hackers from it

also it again took me a hot minute to unfuck ssh on it, there should be a "I know what I'm doing I just want SMB" version of it

oh god the newest version of openmediavault has a completely unnecessary fullscreen animation on the login screen

well, that's one working Xbox

put some Arctic MX4 on there, that should be leagues better than the tarry mess Microsoft decided was a good TIM

well, that took quite a bit of alcohol but I cleaned up my other Xbox, too

good news, apparently this is an 1.6 Xbox that doesn't need its clock cap removed (and will, in fact, not boot without one)
