honestly it's a pretty nice not-quite-top-down very-light-on-strategy game
then again, you play humans vs robots, commanded by the WOPR so who knows what they were going for
it's so funny to me that they made a WarGames tie-in game that's posing as the Protovision game that never existed in the movie

Since other Masto admins have been posting what it costs to run their instance I decided to do the same for awoospace.
It's important to note that since we only federate with a hand-picked list of instances (which is available on our about page), we get less traffic than the average instance with our user numbers. Also we might have a lot of registered accounts but only around 100 are active regularly.
It comes down to
- ~6€ a month for the server (a ssdnodes KVM (4 vCPUs, 16GB RAM, 320GB disk [way too much]), they basically always have a sale going on if you're willing to pay for three years in advance, the usually throw in free daily backups), we did a big upgrade during the last big influx because the old one wasn't enough
- 5$ a month for around 500 GB S3-compatible media storage on Wasabi (they've been unstable in the past but it's been years since we've had issues)
- <20$ a year for the domain name

racism on the fedi
People new to the fediverse should be made aware that, regrettably, it is still a very white space. Black people, indigenous people and people of color have been subject to all kinds of racist harassment and other bullshit on here.
This is a thing that may be difficult to grasp, especially for people new to the fedi, and especially for white people who are not affected by racism. It can be subtle. It can fly under the radar. And everyone on here is a leftist anyway, aren't leftists supposed to be anti-racist?
In my more than two years on this platform, I have learned that no, just because somebody is a leftist and proclaims to be anti-racist in their bio or their instance's terms of service, doesn't mean they won't side with white racists and join in on the bullying of BIPOC on here when push come to shove. And frankly, that's fucking atrocious
