GNU, explaining, death mention

In the story where this telegraph system is introduced, it is also explained when someone dies in service of these towers and the people who run them their names are sent with the code GNU. This is because as long as someone remembers the name of someone they live on.

GNU, explaining

If you’re new here, GNU is pulled from some of Terry Pratchett‘s work. It was a code for messages carried across a magical telegraph system.
G: send the message on
N: do not log the message
U: turn the message around at the end of the line and send it back.
