#Mastodon doesn't speak valid #ActivityPub: a thread that really should have been a blog post.

Whatever protocol Mastodon uses, it's not spec-conforming ActivityPub. And this forces the rest of the #Fediverse to mimic its limitations. I learned this after painful trial and error.

ActivityPub is JSON-LD, which, like XML, uses URI namespaces. But it does more than that: a JSON-LD `@context` can map *any* name to *any* URI.

Dass in Deutschland in Zukunft 4 bis 5 Windräder pro Tag gebaut werden müssen, klingt gleich viel weniger dramatisch, wenn man weiß, dass im Jahr 2017 im Schnitt 4,9 Windräder pro Tag gebaut wurden.
