oh heck I completely missed mainline Masto finally not removing information from incoming posts anymore https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/23913
check your disk encryption, unless you set it up recently it might be insecure https://nondeterministic.computer/@mjg59/110216984788495049
also if anyone knows a way to recover (parts of) an NTFS filesystem (not files, I know photorec) that was overwritten by a windows installation iso hmu
this is both an easily avoidable mistake and I actually have a network drive this drive should mirror its important files to, I just never set it up so it's just got the stuff I remembered to copy
For those who missed the Kickstarter campaign: my book, Shift Happens, is now available for preorder in the new online store, to be delivered in October!
No future reprints are planned and the number of books is limited: https://shifthappens.site/store
Swedish microcar maker Luvly wants to be the IKEA of tiny electric cars
“A reversal of the large car trend would lead to myriad societal benefits and could be paired with making cities more human-centric rather than car-centric. With car-centric cities, we surrender so much of our human space to vehicles that only get used for minutes a day.” https://electrek.co/2023/04/15/swedish-microcar-maker-luvly-wants-to-be-the-ikea-of-tiny-electric-cars/
here's the older version of the same display, they slowly started putting more information on there, like where which cart will stop, so it's quite cramped these days
Ok so I have to add a huge caveat to my suggestion to try masto app "Ice Cubes"
It seems to have some kind of AI text editor in it and I don't know what the process is - does it send your text somewhere before you engage the editor tool, or does it wait for your input?
The things it does are funny but whether I want to use it or not depends on whether it's sending my text somewhere and how
DB has some of the nicest signage typography in general, I love how they split the signs to create logical separation and deliberately not center anything. Also that font rules
I thought it was one continuous panel but it's obviously two when viewed head on. Still a lot more seamless than the four low-res displays they used before
