the YouTube app I use on my tv doesn't do end cards so I get these slightly awkward and sometimes ominous endings to videos

I still think it's wild that SE is supporting it to the point of having Yoshi-P talk extensively about it when they're not even the publisher

apparently there's a playtest for ffxiv mobile and someone leaked screenshots… it looks very mobile game lmao

can home assistant actually update zigbee devices' firmware or does it just pretend it can 😩

I don't want Mastodon to be another place where people boost genAI art onto my timeline 😩

Ugh, just saw the new #wrapstodon feature that adds a “Year in Review” to Mastodon – it’s up on mastodon.social already, and will be part of v4.4.0.

It’s super number-go-up brain: You’re part of the top x % of Mastodon users! You had so many new followers and posts!

Plus a super cringe and unnecessary “We won’t tell Bernie” message under the top-% stat. Jfc.

I opened an issue asking to let server admins turn this off (edit: it's actually off by default): github.com/mastodon/mastodon/i

#mastoadmin

the systray was a mistake now every shitty chat app wants to "minimize to it" even on macOS where you can just… not have a window and still be obviously running

The key words "MUST", "MUST NOT", "REQUIRED", "SHALL", "SHALL NOT", "SHOULD", "SHOULD NOT", "RECOMMENDED", "MAY", and "OPTIONAL" in this document are to be interpreted as described in RFC 2119.

1. You MUST NOT have any gods before me

you can literally post like you're Adolf Hitler but if I joke about lighting something on fire that could be someone's Tesla I suppose

Bluesky's RSS feeds kinda suck (no images, no line breaks) but I have added mine to shork.xyz/posts.html for now

@connections hey! Hope y'all are having nice holidays.

We recently got hold of this beauty and would love to use it for our doorbell/intercom.

None of us really have much telecom experience, so even a basic ringer circuit is a bit daunting to develop - do you you have any pointers for how to convert between a single analog phone line (German style) on one side and power, audio in/out, ring, hook on the other? Either readymade solutions, or some keywords for helpful components.

Thanks! -Lambda

tbh what I really learnt is that the pretty steep increase for a private cabin and for the sleeper part of the train (this is the cheap sleeper "couchette") are probably justified

I might actually like the upper bunk more because it feels cozier and less exposed, but it's more annoying logistically
