re: Internet Companies Being Terrible (Discord), PSA
@ky0ko Ah, thankyou
re: Warhammer 40k, Traitor Guard
@daylight @LexYeen@snouts.online I know that feeling!
I like painting & find it super relaxing (tho my back takes its revenge for it), but gimme some green stuff, wire and a whole bunch of magnets and I am a very happy bat
re: Warhammer 40k, Traitor Guard
@daylight @LexYeen@snouts.online I don't 40k anymore, but I'm still happy to see your progress whenever you post it, and yes, eager to see these lil peeps when they're all painted up, you've done some great work converting them!
Cont'd, EU Pol
A lot of the crud in their ToS is hilariously illegal in the EU, so this is less worrisome & Discord have admitted it's utterly unenforcable for anyone in Europe, even with all the "You agree to settle all trials in the US only" clauses they stuffed in.
The UK has ostensibly agreed to keep the GDPR, but as with everything Brexit.. Who knows.
(the doc itself: https://discordapp.com/terms , warning that it's the classic "Make our wall of text as inaccessible as possible" style of EULA)
Internet Companies Being Terrible (Discord), PSA
Discord have updated their TOS to include various atrocious things.
Most of them, you can't opt out of. You can opt out of the Arbitration Clause
(arbitration-opt-out@discord.com), but to do so you have to before the 23rd of October.
The Arbitration Clause includes some of the most henious "You waive all right to a fair trial" parts, so anyone continuing to use Discord is strongly recommended to protect what rights they can, while they can.
Also I cannot take the Growly Trailerman Announcer in Duel Tournaments seriously, and he clearly can't either. His always-at-11 job enthusiasm for gargling roadsalt and then yelling procedurally generated team names out is just
I don't mind losing rounds because even when he sounds disappointed he's clearly enjoying himself
For Honor is a good counterpoint to marathoning history podcasts.
"Then, war. Then no war, & horrible internal social things reached a boiling point."
Mmmnnnhhh..
"Yeahbutwait what if a Viking Scotsman(🤔) fought a Knight Gladiator(
)? ..And then a Ninja appeared in a puff of smoke and backflipped them both into a fire (
)!?!??"
Ah, thankyou, yes. that will do nicely as a chaser.
abuse take
@HTHR@cybre.space yes god same
I honestly.. Yeah, I get way too scared to go "No.. That's not what that means at all. Please don't use it like that." b/c people get rlly defensive & act like you're implying [topic they're talking about] isn't bad at all.
Ppl use gaslighting to mean 'anything deceptive' now, & the justifications are always.. Strained, wooly excuses for a quick & easy shortcut to giving their position extra emotional impact (dressing it in the language of interpersonal abuse).
This is a graffiti-free zone.
