I completed the placement matches for Comp in the 3 days before the season ends, because some mixture of boredom and masochism. 5/10 wins playing with total randoms is honestly more than I was expecting, but it seems like the playerbase is big enough and the algorithms are solid enough to keep randos and precons mostly separated (at my level, anyway).

For the next few hours, I have an arbitrary number and a shiny medal beneath my portrait! ..Then it resets.

@theoutrider Titanfall 2 is £6 on Origin too atm, and has a thoroughly enjoyable SP campaign (as well as a good MP, but consistently getting a match is reliant on logging on at peak times. Still, when there's people, there's plenty enough people).

I'm kinda wary of SW:BF2 after bouncing off BFV so hard. It looks like kinda the same gameplay, but with Star Wars rather than WW2. Is that about-right?

@Kaffe@chitter.xyz We're mostly dripfed details (rather than given a comprehensive overview) of the society, but the primary alien race in Anne Leckie's 'Provenance' is an aquatic species, and what we're told about them and how it informs their characters, plot & approach to space travel & other cultures is very well written.

(Its in the same setting as her Imperial Raadch trilogy, and will spoiler a large political event that happens in Book 3, but those books aren't required to read/understand Provenace)
