"You bohemian earspoon" is my new favourite insult
if anyone's looking (like I have been) to get their email free of the Google Hydra
I've swapped my email over to Tutanota & so far they're good? Less space + bells & whistles, but more privacy, open source & still free.
Mostly saying this b/c I know that "Ohgod but I need to comparison shop and look up reviews and safety ratings and stuff and that's exhausting" was a big hurdle for me.
[Autism/Chronic Pain/Mood MI] Ppl Question
Do other ppl find Pain Scales (and Mood Scales) from 1-10 very bizarre/unanswerable?
Like, I cannot.. Plot something so variable along multiple axis from a 1-10. Pain is not a numerical.. Thing?
So my answers are always just kinda panic-flail random answers or somewhere around the middle because I have nothing to navigate by
"Ok, I generated a semi-random integer for you. No it doesn't map to anything meaningful, but.. You were demanding a number. This is a number. I have fulfilled task?"
context/further explanation
(MyTaxi claims to, but just missed a clinic appt because it turned out that feature was "the app will try and book one at the specified time".. Which is notsogreat for needing a wheelchair accessible taxi in the middle of the school-run)
The fediverse is kept a largely safe and happy place by a fortress wall of medium articles the bemoan the fact that the fediverse is hopeless and will never succeed. That fortress wall was shoddily built for us by techbros and journalists and we must take responsibility for maintaining it. If we don't start repairing the cracking masonry with new medium articles about how mastodon simply can't grow fast enough for real humans to use it then the walls will crumble. Do your part.
re: Skills & Disability Thinkin' (~+)
Liiiiiike it's kinda embarrassing how long it took me to work out that
A) I'm not gonna ever be good at drawing while not looking at my hand, that's not a practice-thing for me (dyspraxia, hand-eye co-ordination, all that jazz)
and then
B) Why even when I acquired a screen-tablet, I kept getting disaffected & going back to sketchbooks or lapsing entirely (slippery surface amplifying poor motor control).
This has taken years! I only started using adaptations /this year/ for A causing me to constantly misclick things when using a mouse. I only noticed it wasn't an 'Everyone does that.. Probably?' thing this year!
But I'm not pissed at the wasted time, just.. Happy I'm identifying this stuff, and finding workarounds.
Skills & Disability Thinkin' (~+)
I think one of the hardest parts of learning any skill field when you have disabilities that affect it (especially in non-obvious ways) is working out: what's
"Practice fixes that"
"Practice will fix that.. But it'll take a helluva lot longer for you"
"You need to work out the pitfalls yr disability causes, and find adaptations"
and what's "No this is just not going to go away, you need to find an alternate route or technique"
B/c it's the kinda thing that more often than not you just can't.. Find accurate advice on (you'll always get A).
It's a tonne of individual self-learning and maintaining kindness towards yourself so you can recognise potential obstacles.
Infinity War, Not Really Spoilers
I am so far out of touch with the Disnarvel movies
Also they really gutted Thanos' backstory & motives, huh
And why for a super-smart villain with power over primal elements of the fabric of the universe itself.. ..does he just use them to shoot beams of CGI at people
"Aha, mastery over reality itself! With this, I can shoot Purple at my enemies!"
TLDR: It is all very nonsensical, read the Jim Starling comics
This is a graffiti-free zone.
