trans pol, dysphoria narratives, transphobia
"Transphobes will misuse it" isn't an excuse to hurt and suppress other trans people's experiences.
You can't come up with a clean version of trans that phobes will embrace. That's a hill without a summit, using others as the stairs.
"Transphobes misuse". Full stop. That's all you need.
Even if you silence every single voice that isn't yours they'll keep misusing, because it's not supposed to be fair. Theirs isn't a set of standards we'll ever meet. The goal is destruction.
Policing other trans people's feelings and experiences isn't going to do anything except help achieve that.
Trust me, 'Sweeping less palatable subgroups of your minority under the rug and your enemies will no longer be able to hurt the rest' has a long history.
That history spans contemporary trans communities, and far beyond those borders. Many groups try this, and have tried it in the past. If you still earnestly believe that's the right thing to do, I implore you to go away and research it.
It has never, ever worked.
Does anyone know of a good resources to point to of the history of fanfiction, highlighting personal exploration, AU stuff, queer community, etc?
( @Brainship do you know any good ones maybe?)
re: Food Question, Disability, Covid
Not um, subtooting but from responses realising I was a bit vague re "low prep"
Anything microwaveable, anything you can leave and set an alarm for (not lots of separate steps you have to do this with, tho), anything that doesn't need like, standing over a stove or pan of cooking food and stirring it
"toast, porridge, noodle pots" is a good estimate of the level of.. Energy, stamina, maintained focus, steps, that I'm talking about when I say low-prep
Food Question, Disability, Covid
I know something similar was asked recently but can't find it
Can anyone recommend v.low preparation meal options that are doable in er, the current situation
I rely on online deliveries & readymeals/frozen pmuch exclusively b/c disability, but that's all becoming increasingly difficult to get access to, so I want to know any options I don't know already (cereal, toast, porridge, noodle pots)
further RPG natter
I want to try Pathfinder 2..
It looks really promising as a "We're established, so now we're doing our own thing."
Also you can play as a goblin, and tbh every game should let you play as a goblin
And stuff like moving away from 'species = race = monoculture' problems and showing you don't need to do that to have D&D-style character choices in a fantasy setting
And representation stuff which PF's always been pretty ahead of the pack with and improves on here
Yeah it looks good
I was reading the D&D5 Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica last night and it reminded me how much I love weird random generation tables
There's a set of them for each guild and they're glorious. Gruul gets a "RAAARGHH! (translation goes here)" response to every question, which is really committing to yr theme
I want to run a Ravnica game someday..
Also hope the Age of Sigmar RPG has this much love put into the faction-specific character quirks
Pets, rodent-looking critters
Now I have a stable care setup I do miss Oscar
He went to a good family, and it was the right decision at the time (care stuff took years to get sorted, and I was struggling to handle cleaning upkeep with disability) but still
I raised him from a tiny! He was my good boy.
I hope he's doing okay. 💖
ADHD, depression, fatigue, organisation
I planned to write up a schedule to try and structure my time better but ran into the problem of being too tired to do anything all day
Which feels a bit "that's going to be a problem with this whole idea" since it's more common than not x.x
(idk, input from people in similar positions appreciated, equally just talking out loud)
This is a graffiti-free zone.
