@FragileVal So FWIW, getting all four endings really is Worth It.

@grainloom Cool :)
So, have you ever been to a really good live music performance? Was that a valuable experience?
thoughts on "metaphor"
@grainloom So, I've thought about it some more, and I think I have another way of explaining things that might make sense, if you're willing to re-engage :)
@aesmael it really, really is.
@cypnk This feels like a blessing on my timeline.
LKiaB thoughts, consent
Ugh. That OP earlier today got a lot of boosts, and now I'm actually kind of regretting posting it.
LKiaB thoughts
@DensetsuNoGomez I'd even be fine with that if it wasn't simultaneously trying to cast the protagonist as Tender and Caring in the interactions with her.
LKiaB thoughts, consent
This is less about wanting perfect queer representation, and more about feeling like the game isn't actually communicating clearly or intentionally.
LKiaB thoughts
@DensetsuNoGomez mentioning this since you're not following me: I launched another thread about some of my more-congealed thoughts. https://awoo.space/@starkatt/1192697
LKiaB thoughts, consent
There's a pretty serious element of ludonarrative dissonance here, given that, well, it's a game where one of the primary selling points is fucking.
LKiaB thoughts, consent
So I think I've figured out what's bothering me about LKiaB. It makes a lot of superficial nods towards consent, and a lot of people have praised the game for it. However, the structure of the game is *fundamentally about manipulation*, and the little elements of verbal check-in that it offers don't make up for it. I feel like the paper-over attempt feels worse than directly acknowledging that a lot of the characters actions Aren't Okay.
LKiaB thoughts
@DensetsuNoGomez I think there's a fundamental narrative dissonance here that undermines any of the superficial ways the game nods to consent.
LKiaB thoughts
@DensetsuNoGomez I'm curious what your issues are with it. I wonder how much they overlap with the areas of my discomfort.
hellbird venting
@emanate Oh, this wasn't at you at all. This is at someone quote-RTing every wrong opinion in a reply to their very public OP, for the purposes of showing a shutdown/refutation.
I'm very strongly of the opinion that fiction (both interactive and otherwise) that contains problematic or unethical behavior can have substantial value. I'm also very strongly of the opinion that such fiction should be engaged with mindfully.
Okay so Ladykiller in a Bind is good and charming and fun but it does get dark and manipulation-y in a lot of places, and the content warnings for the scenes near the end are serious business.
It felt pretty clear to me that the writing was aware of the gross/coercive elements, and recognized that they weren't okay. I recommend this game, but caution when playing is warranted.
@adeptomega I think the common claim is more that the concept of p-zombies is incoherent because only phenomenologically observed behavior is real.
