My hobby: saying as a response to images of monsters and especially monster girls.

I'm kind of tempted to learn mixing, put a sick beat under "This Year" by the mountain goats, and see if I can get furries to dance to it.

Hypothesis: platforms whither and die when they no longer feel like places we can safely be emotionally honest. We stop posting about the actually unique and compelling parts of our lives. The vacuum is then filled with sanitized selves and performative politics, which ultimately isn't nourishing.

I definitely feel like this is a lot of what's happened to fb and increasingly to birdsite, anyway.

So let's be open and kind to each other here, okay?

Ahh so many interesting looking people but I don't think I have the brainwidth to follow y'all!!

If you follow me but I don't follow you back, feel super free to interact with me.

Hey folks, when you share a NSFW link or hidden image can you also breifly describe or at least tease the contents, so I have some idea whether it's something I'm interested in or should avoid?

Hi everyone!! We opened our registration stuff again so people can sign up. Awoooooooo

consent

Irregular reminder:

The majority of the time respecting consent is really easy, but where is matters most is the infrequent times where it's hard.

95+ percent of the time, it's pretty easy to accept a no and back off. Sometimes though you'll *really* want to do something. That's when it's hardest to not be pushy, back off, and let things go. But if you don't respect consent when it's hard to do so, the 95% of the time when it's easy hardly matters.

Between every visit, I forget that Boston is actually a gorgeous city. The light is really nice here.

Okay, in fairness I am now Rather Wet and wish I had a change of pants handy. The rain intensified!

Show thread

People in Boston react very differently to rain than people in Seattle. Everyone here is popping umbrellas or literally wrapping themselves in plastic bags, and I'm like "sure, okay."

@starkatt on the phone keyboards, usually a long press on the emoji will pop up a skin tone and apply it across. 👧🏻 Desktop I don't know

I want to be using the emoji skin tone modifiers but I can't figure out how either on my phone or on most pop-up emoji keyboards on desktop :/

Just finished reading Story of Your Life. It's good!

Having read it also makes me more impressed with Arrival as an adaptation. The film emphasized a very different set of beats than the story, and it really payed off.

but soft, what typh through yonder window breaks

[crashes through window]

it's me. i'm soft

Whoops I went to bed too early and now I'm awake again 🙃

Hey, some folks have figured out how to spin text in toots. That's fine, but if the portion you're spinning leaves the display region then it starts taking on a strobe effect and might be an epilepsy trigger.

Therefore, please hide your spinning text behind content warnings.

Awoofriends- we have a Patreon if you want to support our staff!

The money goes to me, which I
then distribute to our staff when payments hit. I have very good full-time employment and do not take any money for myself.

Currently we've only paid @kyra for her art, and we commission her at least once a month on top of that!

She's very busy, but her next piece will be a drawing of the story that won the competition to name @awoofriend.

How hard would it be to make a fursuit with luminous fiber optic strands woven though the fur? :D
