@ctrlaltdog@chitter.xyz it's true that we're facing decreasing resources--but this has the potential to transform the types of people who *would* help, into the types of people who *need* helping
in our broken system, the most effective changes are in policy and organization--and i think those are the things we should fight for
but if we deplatform ourselves by turning everyone who could fight for these changes into people who can't even live, then i think things will get so much worse than they are now
@ctrlaltdog@chitter.xyz this is true, but sometimes the trade-offs are also larger than people realize
guilting someone into overextending themself opens up the possibility for bad luck to literally kill them
i mean, i'll admit the best case scenario is better–but the worst case scenario is far worse than anything that i would ever want to be responsible for
that's why i disagree with encouraging people to go beyond their means
@ctrlaltdog@chitter.xyz i don't know if i agree with this part--but mostly because not everyone can help others
everyone has a capacity for helping, and everyone has different needs--so sometimes the result of helping someone with less than you might actually end up damaging everyone more than it helps
this is especially true when you factor in things like disabilities
@codl it's important work
birdsite link
@codl WAIT, THIS IS A REAL THING, ISN'T IT
@codl he'd probably be very good at singling opponents out
@tom well, each is a separate story
the first is like a classic DnD campaign, but it grows into a pretty elaborate story spanning multiple planes of existence, and ends up having some really fantastic production
it's a nice length too--69 episodes
after that, they do a few mini-arcs to try out different games--and finally settle on a more story based monster of the week game where they hunt down supernatural creatures while trying to keep their existence under wraps
@tom i'll admit it starts pretty slow, but the things at the beginning are important enough to start there
if you're wondering when things stop being so slow, "murder on the rockport limited" is about when things really get going! (and it gets better and better pretty consistently from that point--and becomes legit the best thing i've ever listened to!)
@codl this is why it hurts to get bitten by one
@sugar hee. i don't disagree
i think i mostly hung around each time more out of completion's sake than anything
@LongLevy oof, same
it's like dealing with clients--i'm not bad at it, but it's extremely stressful for me
heaven forbid i have to give a presentation to clients, yeesh
@chao @ctrlaltdog@chitter.xyz this is cute!
also, same
@noiob @earfolds oh yeah! i got roflstomped by more than a few arch updates before i realized there was an rss feed i should be paying attention to
their design goals were for simplicity from a development perspective, which unfortunately doesn't always translate to users
pacman is extremely fast though, and their wiki is top notch
tbh, i didn't use arch for very long--but i do know a few people who like it a lot, despite its occasional update weirdness
hilda is cute
i like the OP too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb_DuGxRgg4
oh hi! i do computers, and sometimes draw stuff~ i like lo-fi things and cute aesthetics!
i also probably like you
