@tom for a general idea about the difficulty of these things, expert+ was originally a fan-made difficulty and included monsters like this (i fail here, but i've gotten better since then): twitter.com/Archenoth/status/1

a lot of people thought that was almost unfair in terms of difficulty

but when it was added officially, most of the official expert+ songs were significantly harder than the fanmade ones

it was unreal

@tom they are brutal, and some of them are drastically different than lower levels of the song

when you first start, it will be pretty common to fail within the first 5 seconds--but they are really satisfying, especially for the songs that really flow in that difficulty

i think you might like how pop stars flows when you get it though!

@tom oooh! congrats! that song is no slouch! it's actually harder than some expert+ songs imo

and yeah, pop stars is a real heat rock

@tom i kind of only really did the campaign as a break from the lololouch brick walls i kept failing to tackle

but yeah, i found rum and bass mostly satisfying on expert+. the way everything syncs up is really, *really* fun imo

i also like heavy beats, so, i'm kinda biased towards liking things like that and breezer

@tom oh yeah, and it's *so* far into the song too. angel voices is basically a brick wall in terms of difficulty compared to the other expert songs

good thing it's cool sounding though! and the end is actually pretty badass when you get it, so it's really satisfying

@tom oh yeah, it's very good! beat saber has some real bangers

i think my favorite right now is rum and bass--it feels amazing!

@tom i like how the expert+ blocks sync up in the bridge, it's so satisfying!

@noiob oh, oops, i have no idea why i put the word "physical" in there :s

@ctrlaltdog@chitter.xyz because oof, MOOD

i think i like the idea of doing things much more than i like actually starting them

@noiob hee, i like how they're all prefixed with "undefined"

i mean sure, i *can* pomodoro my way through that, but i kinda don't want to *have* to

the part that's confusing is that it has turned into this persistent-but-transient hobby that seems to just vaporize whenever i interact with it

it's actually a pretty massive tease tbh

it's always interesting to me how my programming interest waxes and wanes

i wonder why it does that?

i get the itch to write things pretty often on an almost-aesthetic level, but that disappears pretty quickly whenever i actually really sink my teeth into a project

@ctrlaltdog@chitter.xyz oh yike! that sounds like a pretty extreme improvement D:

i used to sleep on this entire style of roguelike, but there's a lot i actually like about it

you can get information about almost everything in the game, in the game itself--very seldom do you run into situations where you just outright die because you didn't know details that you can only figure out by having a character die to them

i mean, it's still mega-hard, but like, in a strangely chill kind of way

it also has surprisingly good ui compared to other roguelikes from the same era

i still have mad respect for angband tbh

that's especially true now that the most recent versions allow you to have persistent dungeons, so you can't just use staircases to escape bad luck--and it makes exploration have a lot more meaning since you only have a limited number of items you can find before you delve deeper

@outsidewolves@snouts.online ohh! late, but, welcome..!

it was a pleasant surprise to see you around! ^^
