work is talking about promotions and i have some whining about it
part of the problem of reducing people to an "objective" skillset is that you are gating them behind fake reasons for promotions
our company apparently requires 4 people senior to you to recommend you for a promotion. if you can't make those connections or don't work with senior people in a meaningful way you are supposed to just "talk to your manager" :/

@BigFatFae even when i was at 180 pounds (I'm 6'0") I still felt fat even though when I wasn't considering my body I felt a lot better
But everyone started telling me "oh my god you look SICKLY" all the goddamn time.
so now i'm back up to 205 because then people won't comment on my body all the time
