@thefishcrow i got lucky and discovered a visual basic online class which taught me a lot about how to explore and learn. that's basically how i got motivated to get into college for computer science

plus some change for special characters

i had no clue i could chain them together to make descriptive variable names lmao

i remember i thought there were only 26 variables in memory....

so i had scribbled out a cheatsheet of what every variable meant and found out clever ways of storing multiple things in a single variable

i made a cool arena game on my calculator and that was probably my pathway into CS stuff

i literally programmed it by reading the manual with 0 reliance on any external resources (ie: internet)

which might sound impressive but it meant my learning was significantly slower and ultimately left me further behind than if i'd found a community that could help me faster

i'm just glad my math teacher encouraged me

hmm...... feeling sudden urge to program on a calculator....

@posit@chitter.xyz yeah actually set up using a private network manager (i used to use Hamachi but that got Monetized and is now pay-only), there's another I used a long time ago called Game Ranger that might work
