tootdon thoughts

@codl I don't think I can trust a remote resource to not collect unlisted posts which are still viewable in the atom feed publicly

tootdon thoughts

@codl god help you if you mention anything 4chan related

tootdon thoughts

@codl try making a public post talking about your least favorite thing about javascript on twitter and you will get at least 5 people talking down at you as if it's not a real problem

comcast whining

ever since comcast instituted the 1000gb cap two months ago I've hit it every month

This fucking sucks as a heavy user I hate caps artificial resources

*sees a bald white dude with a beard and sunglasses * oh wow it's kc green!!!

@puppy@chitter.xyz oracle had already taken that away android is dying

tootdon thoughts

@codl I'm gonna resist anyone building a publicly searchable database of public posts sorry

I know too many people myself included who've been harassed by people over it

I'm kind of a hypocrite bc I do keep tabs on awoo.space search on twitter but I exclusively use it for monitoring in case it's discussed by channers or something

@daggertooth@monsterpit.net fyi you can block tootdon.ooo in /etc/hosts.deny too to guarantee they hit you with any kind of authentication on their server in case they do any automated grabbing of stuff

@slipstream Burlingame is also probably the most conservative place in the bay from my experience there

@nolan @Mastodon assuming anyone you invite doesn't abuse the bug, yes

@chosafine@instance.business i think there's a degree of coping found in that which can be healthy, but it does annoy me too

@chosafine@instance.business kind of is considering how popular they are

Tech -

@thefishcrow owning rights to apis is like owning the shape of a pen and gives you the right to sue anyone who uses a pen shaped implement

It's not the pen itself, just the casing it resides in

Tech -

Oh no oracle winning an appeal in the Google Java api case is devastatingly bad and opens up even more opportunity for patent trolling

This is horrible

happy memoriam: Ursula K. LeGuin

Today I learned: Ursula K. LeGuin spent a chunk of her life making an album of world music for a paracosmic civilization from one of her books. (' Music And Poetry Of The Kesh', paired with the book 'Always Coming Home')

Also that she was working in her last days on seeing it being reissued, and now it's on Bandcamp? Just...to buy? And that's really beautiful in its own way.

Thanks for one more story. <3

My Patreon is jumpin' right now. Chapter by chapter, I'm posting about a pair of roommates, one of whom is going through a weird body transformation and trying to cope with school at the same time.

I preview my games and writing on Patreon, and it helps keep me motivated and calm so that I can keep writing. Please check it out if that's your kinda thing.
