I presently want to murder some of our engineers over one of our products if service is consuming 2TB of ram and unstable throwing more ram at it will not fix it.. and no I'm not monitoring your special dashboards every hour when the tool offers notifications and pagerduty integration. My team will take on this when you get proper monitor solutions.. and some semblance of run books for it. this is no the only product we are responsible for.

Maybe it's discontent.. sure what to call it.
Just... dissatisfy comfortable? Not uncomfortable enough to try to change things.. unsure how or why?

I don't like it. Some negativity is bleeding into everything even though I try to be positive.

I find myself day dreaming a lot of escapist fantasy a lot more these days and devouring also sorts of average at best, trashy at worst science and fantasy novels. Like way more than I did even in the worst parts of my not great childhood.
But at the same time, I'm moderately successful, not drowning in a pile of debt or broke or being abused. I'm just unhappy a lot having trouble holding on to fleeting moments of happiness and my general outlook of the future is dark and scary.

Dear Software Developers,

When a service is utilizing 2TB, yes 2 Terabytes of RAM (DDR4 of course) on a physical machine... and still unstable, crashing because insufficient resources tossing more RAM at the problem is not going to fix it.

Tossing more physical nodes at the problem is likely not going to fix it either...

Ribeye was on sale for 6 bucks per pound... so that is a ribeye with portabella mushrooms, onions and bellpeppers for dinner. Marinaded the steaks and mushrooms together, sauted the veggies on the side in the marinade (green apple hard cider with onions, garlic, crushed red pepper, black pepper, green pepper, coriander and dill)

basted steaks with sauce from veggies and toss it all together on the plate :D

@mawr I wonder a lot about various things people sub to on Amazon... like what.. my guess would be small clinics that can't really buy in bulk and various other users for that sort of thing.

@mawr Everything that happened to White Wolf and Onyx Path has been pretty disturbing and sucks to see what happened to their IP and the company as whole given what they were in the 90s.

Supposed to be off today.. but boss forgot to update the pager duty rotation... so I got stuck with a few pages.. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised given how stupid complicated the new schedule is.

Why? Because we were supposed to hire more people before switching to 24/7 coverage... we have not been able to hire or get a req for swing shift.. and one person on day shift volunteered to cover 2 shifts a week but he is hourly so his work week is Saturday to the next Sunday and he has to work 5 days a week where as I'm salary but not overtime exempt so I can only work 40 hours in 7 days consecutively so this is what my team kludged together with my boss.

Blah... so not thrilled with new work schedule.

It is still 10 days of work out of 14 but ugh..

Week One: Mon-Tuesday Wed-Off, Thurs-Fri, Sat-Sun-Off

Week Two: Mon-Thur, Fri-Off. Sat-Sun

Week Three: Mon-Tues, Wed-Off, Thur-Fri, Sat-Sun off

Repeat until I can't keep track of whether I'm working or not.
