@LeDiva Vincent Canby apparently loved it, but I'm not gonna hold that against the film. :>
@LeDiva I hear it's honest-to-gods not nearly as bad as people say...
re: music, important! (to old people)
@acetone_kitten I will! I might actually be in the financial shape for it fairly soon!
@JulieSqveakaroo Yeah, I almost wondered, given the circumstances you were talking about—it sounds likely that your coworkers know their setup's what's kinda fucked up, not the roo!
re: music, important! (to old people)
@acetone_kitten Oh shit. I'm half-tempted to book a Seattle vacation around it...
@Aradia 😻
religious snark, bizarre theology, babies eating babies
Negativland was right. Christianity IS stupid. (Or maybe just extremely bored at the time...)

re: day job, cafe life, homestar
@Soreth MARTIAN'ED!
("I got you this half-digested gazelle carcass!")
re: day job, cafe life, homestar
@Phorm Are you kidding? I do that to @anthracite like twice a day. :> (Also, lucky for them, they left like 5 mins after I posted that. PRESSING SOCIAL OBLIGATION'ED!)
re: "New Math" thread, long again
@Cerulean @anthracite @frameacloud Oh geeze, that attribute block thing is pinging some very hazy grade-school memories very hard... I think we might have worked with them once or twice too!
Also yeah, I'm glad I'm not the only one who found Lehrer's song a little... glib. <3
re: work (-)
@zx3 You fool, you forgot to modulate the tube frequencies! The whole Internet could invert contrariwise!
re: pessimism about global warming
@anthracite Honestly it's kinda reassuring to be reminded you're quite willing to get outta Dodge the moment it becomes necessary.
I have been enjoying it. And I do also still have some degree of hope. More and more people are taking this stuff seriously, and sooner or later there's just so likely to be a Manhattan Project style concentration of engineering resources.
I'm not giving up until, say, around, November of 2020, when the (relative) grown-ups have another shot at making this a policy priority. In the meantime, pray for those hacker kids in the third-world who are already making (regrettably, tiny) carbon-extraction devices...
re: pessimism about global warming
@anthracite ...oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom!
re: pessimism about global warming
@anthracite doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...
This is basically how I've felt—like the guy on the left— since 2016.
re: uspol-adjacent, cishet fuckery
@LeDiva Next time you have the flu, be extra-sure to lick everything he owns. >___<
re: multiple dimensions shitpost, vore
@chimerror Perhaps they are saving that for dessert.</ndnd>
re: cw: noo maf (mandatory cw for length)
@frameacloud I mean, it was definitely rooted in truth, though in practice these esoteric concepts were all thrown at kids with, say, a lot more examples and a lot slower...
re: If your voice conference software shows a list of participants but does not show any indicator for mic volume or usage, your voice conference software is bad and you should feel bad
@mawr Oh gods, you poor mawr. Our conference software DOES have that feature and it's STILL a friggin' calamity every time. :)
