I thought he mostly just did fantasy, but I haven't actually sat and read much of his stuff that wasn't, like, Heavy Metal style "warrior ladies on pterodactyls and crinkly old monks" stuff. God, this all makes me feel so much better about Lore from Dark Crystal and its *unnerving* resemblance to the Temple Guardian (aka the Slamhound, aka Space Doggo) from Parallax...

There's just enough eerie similarity between Dark Crystal and the Mixolyne half of Parallax to make me nervous and kind of giddy. Hey, maybe it means florid, overgrown epic fantasy is *in* this year...

And if people accuse us of ripping them off, well, we kept all the receipts. We didn't necessarily get there first, but we got there on our own. :)

@Austin_Dern Bastardry isn't by far my only association with raccooning! It's just something that I'm always aware of as a part of it, a way of channeling my own ornery streak into productive things, since I don't seem to be able to get rid of it...

It's the _relentlessness_ that's the key trait here—cultivating the ability to get my ADD-laden brain to actually pick at those rooftiles, fiddle with that lock, or throw pinecones at that stupid dog down the street, until something actually gets accomplished. =(n).(n)=

It's also about slogging through with an imperfect and chronically screwed-up body, accepting that I'm gonna feel sick almost every day and that's kinda just something to accept and move on... *froth* :)

I really like your take on it, too! That is also kind of part of it for me. Dealing with my outsider issues, dealing with my alienation from modern urban society, dealing with the fact I feel like a displaced cultural scrounger these days...
