Went on the most stressful drugstore run of my life yesterday. 2/3 of the basic cleaning supplies we were looking for were out of stock, people kept clipping <6' from us, and the poor cashier was clearly stressed out of her wits from dealing with people's general jackassery.
And today I'm still worrying that I've exposed myself. I've had scratchy sinuses and a cough all day. It's probably EXACTLY the same allergy cough and wheeze I've had virtually every day for the last 30 years, and I would never have noticed it until it became a potential herald of doom.
Now my death anxiety is through the roof, as is my panic of how we'd even begin to care for each other in this tiny cramped apartment with no cleaning supplies, if one of us comes down with this.
I wish this damn thing at least had the decency to hit QUICK. The fact it's notorious for coming on slow makes the mental health hit so much worse, because of the 2-14 day suspense...
@Aradia i ended up giving a pep talk to the poor cashier at our local cvs yesterday because people had been doing everything from shoplifting to fighting over paper towels at her store *sigh*
@hystericempress @Daikanu that's a hell of a lot of kitty, cripes even rez might be deferential to this one <3
kitty alert! (++)
I took the box Sugarfoot had curled up in and carried it to the kitchen with her still in. I think I completely destroyed all her previous conceptions of 3-dimensional topology in the process. From the expression on her face, I think it was like finding a warp zone.
This only just deserts for her, since her ability to pop into the apartment out of nowhere had already confounded my concepts of *4*-dimensional topology.
@spacewastrel@yiff.life I thought about it some more, and I actually have four or five "I've lost everything" moments in my life. The times immediately after them were some of the worst of my life, but... like I said, here I am.
So, yeah, here I am. Just keep talking to us and we can collectively get you through this. Everything looks better after a couple of days. Trust in the resilience of your brain to deal with shock, give yourself time to mourn and reel, and then we'll figure out the next step.*hug*

@Austin_Dern Surprising number of Internet resources on it, too!
