re: discourse snark, pangrams

@Soreth Not unless you are all of the following

(a) a sphinx
(b) black
(c) made of quartz

either before or after your TF stock footage

she-ra discourse adjacent, queer familial structures, queer generations, birdsite xpost

Dear younger queer folk,
Please listen to the stories us older folk have to tell about the evolution of labels/terms through time and why folks have the right to identify as/with terms you may see problematic.
No hate, we've been there before.
Think of it this way. Our wide queer community is a familial construct, and while our elders are certainly not always right (coughboomerscough), we do have the wisdom of having gone through many of the mental processes you are
We need to abandon the overpolicing of our queer communities, because in the years to come it will serve us so much better to have a less hostile familial construct so we may support and teach each other in ways this society will not.
We're not each other's [toxic] parents. We can be better, and our mistakes are not necessarily hostility against you. We can be better, and the net that we can weave as an interdependent community is more powerful than those who wish to harm us

racepol, academic, lost futures, sadness

I took a Socio 101 course in college. I loved it. And I could have absolutely sworn that I read a quote in our textbook from an African-American researcher who proposed that racial relations improve in direct proportion to the number of civil, open conversations happening between people of different races, as equals and as part of daily life, where racial politics is not involved.

I really wish I had that textbook, could confirm the source, and could get the details. What I have instead is a cup of tears, from pondering just how far away we've drifted away from that ideal.

re: discourse snark, pangrams

@JulieSqveakaroo (I've seen both variations used commonly, but chose this admittedly rarer one for the purposes of satirizing low-context cancellation crusades. *nod* )

discourse snark, pangrams

Typographers, please note: "the quick fox jumps over the lazy brown dog" is now cancelled.

You know damn well why. >_<

re: discourse, language, my apparent vile centrism

@001zlnv Yup. This was pointed out to the OP in that very same thread and she just kind did a step-dodge and went "well, clearly, my point still stands anyway!"

re: she-ra, Eager Young Queer Leftists

She repeated a pun about Bow having a brother named Sow who's a farmer.

And she quoted the name of a podcast with the, quote, "D-slur" in it.

Oh, and the only non-binary character in the show is "cast as a pedo" because they shapeshifted into a child -- for eminently sensible and unrelated plot reasons.

That's it.

I. Want. People. To. Die.

re: she-ra, Eager Young Queer Leftists

Seriously. You ever wonder if maybe some of the people complaining about us HAVE A COUPLE OF DECENT FUCKING POINTS?

Don't worry, all they've done is convince me that both sides need to be burnt to the ground, Trump first then this bullshit, and replaced with... anything, really.

she-ra, Eager Young Queer Leftists

Aaaand another vital queer creator is canceled for minor infractions of Proper Courtly Queer Etiquette. Now it's Noelle Stephenson of She-Ra, for some offense she apparently committed on a chat -- and even after reading the list of complaints I confess I STILL DON'T EVEN KNOW WTF IS GOING ON.

Fuck. This. Whole. Subculture.

I am out. I don't think I can even call myself a "queer ally" anymore. I've got your backs when the shit *actually* hits the fan, but I have got nothing but hostility left for these little armchair crusaders and I'm not going to fight on their site in these increasingly petty and stupid culture wars.

They deserve Trump and vice versa. A pox on both their houses, Kuwabatake Sanjuro Was Right, and so forth.

re: furry, online, that mike callahan urge

@Balinares Yeah, I just *can't* go back to F-List for exactly that reason.

re: furry, online, that mike callahan urge

@spacewastrel@yiff.life It... it was an extremely mixed bag. In retrospect I did not actually have much *fun* there, but others who were not having to play hostess might feel differently.

discourse, language, my apparent vile centrism

"No."

This one is not up for debate. I don't care what anyone else thinks, this is madness.

re: furry, uspol, discourse, hot take (not 100% serious)

@Soreth I mean, you're absolutely right, and it's practically iconic anyhow that Batman is the LEAST interesting person in Gotham. Especially in the Adam West days, the villains were where all the charm went...

furry, online, that mike callahan urge

After a dear friend of mine has been complaining of feeling ostracized, I'm finding myself almost... *almost* tempted to open my heart up again and start an RP hangout on idunnodiscordorsomething.

I just don't think I can, though. I took -- and caused -- far too much damage trying to keep Puzzlebox and 12Fold together, and I had Acetone Kitten's indefatigable and patient help for both of those -- two traits I KNOW I am no longer able to muster.

It's just weird finding myself even able to entertain the notion again, that's all.

re: furry, uspol, discourse, hot take (not 100% serious)

@zx3 @Soreth Actually, Andy Daly is best Batman, but for reasons I *really* do not expect anyone else here to get, given it requires matching one of the most grueling social discomfort comedies in history. :O

re: furry, uspol, discourse, hot take (not 100% serious)

@Soreth Heh. Adam West's Batman is a cop the same way that Captain Crunch is a member of the military industrial complex. It's just pantomime.

furry, uspol, discourse, hot take (not 100% serious)

If I have to give up Jake Peralta, Sherlock Holmes, and Batman because they're "copaganda," you have to give up Anubis.

He might be cute and buff, but he's in charge of an entire metaphysical system meant to reinforce the superiority of a dictatorial, slave-owning aristocratic class, even beyond the grave.

He's Pharaohganda. He's gotta go.

gripe, queerpol, smut, language

Today I saw people fighting over whether it was prejudiced to apply the term "jacking off" instead of "jilling off" to a trans woman with a cock and I think it's time to burn off all remaining traces of my gender and species with a blowtorch, abandon all human language, and go live in a cave.

(Peg is allowed to visit as long as she doesn't tell me what the rest of y'all are doing. 😜)

@Balina @anthracite It's just that kind of city. After a year living here, this and a host of other things don't even seem strange anymore.

re: kitty alert (+++++++)

@nautilee Thank you! Three minipanthers, three tabbies, and... umm... an "other."
