re: the martian code of honor
@Phorm And I mean, it's like first-grade Martian science. By the time we get out of high school, it's more like "Write a 1,500 word essay comparing and contrasting the social histories of mackerel and red snapper, and how they do or do not relate to their umami properties and omega-3 profiles. Provide examples and (starred) restaurant recommendations."
We're really advanced. 🐯
re: the martian code of honor
@Phorm No, no, you got it all wrong. That's not Martian ethics. That's Martian science.
@dodec Oh, wait, no, here we go. It's actually part of the name of a station, possibly a neighborhood, in Shinjuku.
@dodec I'd have to go back through my work stuff unfortunately!
@Phorm See, you get it. *nod*
re: subtooting intensifies
@kistaro Lemme guess, it's that masto admin. *facepalm*
re: birdsite, uspol, Mean Thoughts
@zx3 I call that "bad as he is" argument "Batman Logic" and it's one of my big rage buttons. SHOOT THE FUCKING CLOWN AND SHUT UP BRUCE
birdsite, uspol, Mean Thoughts
Now that Twitter has threatened to ban anyone who dares to wish harm on that poor innocent angel Donald Trump, I am finding myself seriously tempted to just post "Trump deserves to die painfully of COVID" once an hour until they ban me, then get another account and start all over again.
I am sick of this hand-wringing "neutral," "civil" liberal bullshit that only holds one side to any standards of dignity -- especially while people are still actively cheering for murderer Kyle Rittenhouse with zero consequence whatsoever.
@chimerror lol next you're going to try to tell us "squeeze my lemon til the juice runs down my leg" is some kind of base innuendo, how ridiculous 😐😐😐
re: discourse, twitter, shenanigans, uspol-/viruspol-adjacent, bystander shock, very dead metaphorical ungulates

re: Guardian Opinion Piece: "Why Radiohead are the Blackest white band of our times"
@mawr Oh yeah, this looks very much in my lane, and I suspected it was gonna be about the jazz angle. Thanks so much for sharing, mawr!
discourse, twitter, shenanigans, uspol-/viruspol-adjacent, bystander shock, very dead metaphorical ungulates
mfw i pick a fight with a covid denialist, i find a good opening i can back up with solid research... and the rest of leftist twitter swoops in so hard that i actually feel *bad* for OP and the brutalization they're taking
when even the tigress shakes her head and looks away wincing, wondering if it's time to say something reassuring... maybe people need to tone it down a little :O
i'm a big mean cat and have put off all efforts to change that until at LEAST 2021, but sweet sekhmet, at least i'll try to emphasize the facts and accept a surrender when it's offered :O there's no sense in eating a puddle of red antelope pulp, you know?
re: Guardian Opinion Piece: "Why Radiohead are the Blackest white band of our times"
@mawr I don't have time to read the article right now, sadly. But just knowing it exists fills me with a deep desire to find an alternate universe where "Pyramid Song" was originally written and performed by, say, Sun Ra.
Or as a collab with an unusually long-lived Miles Davis. That part right after the first break where it starts turning into dark jazz anyhow.
I can _almost_ hear it in my own head and I wish I could share it.
@anthracite WHAT. I'm pretty sure that's not allowed...
