I realize I am so much luckier than so many of my friends to have even one parent who's my friend, and another who loves me enough to be benevolently indifferent to my bullshit. :) (Fully accepting Peg after my mom outed her has got my stepdad into Tier S for the rest of his hopefully long adorable redneck goober life. <3 )

@spacewastrel@yiff.life It... um... you weren't missing much, trust me. :) But that's always true, isn't it? Like, there are some films and TV shows I just refuse to watch, because I have such a vivid idea in my head of what they are, and they're more inspiring than the reality could ever be. I've learned over the years that most of the people I envy are like that, too -- anything that has to take place in reality is inevitably gonna disappoint a little. :) But yeah, it was all worth it but I've been left -- especially after Transliminal exploded -- feeling like it was a world I got to look at but never actually touch. Like it was always JUST past the next wall. I dunno, maybe that's the nature of it?

@Phorm Oh yeah, they're also so good for IBS/food symptoms. I really wanna give you a lot of reassurance re: that, 'cause mine was nearly debilitating when I was like 20-25 yrs old and these days it's just a minor nuisance. Watching my dairy intake and avoiding FODMAP vegetables seems to do a lot of the trick for me, though these days it's improve to the point where I can get away with *some* of almost anything

Aaaand it looks we're likely to take at least a Cat 2 on the chin within the next week and a half.
