@balinares Yeah, I'm not a fan of April Fools Day at all, but the sheer ratio of people complaining about pranks to actual pranks seen kinda... made it feel like killing an already-dead mouse with a hand grenade, to be honest.

I think the holiday's good and dead and I'm not particularly sorry, but I do wonder if 200 years from now people won't be wondering why April 1 is a holiday where we all tell each other not to play practical jokes we weren't planning on playing anyhow. :)

Brill basically showed up to keep me sane while we were dealing with the Kittenpocalypse. :) She was based on Oyster, an ABSOLUTELY FUCKING GORGEOUS sweetie of an Aussie Shepherd I met at the local craft beer shop.

Her backstory is slowly evolving, but so far I'm pretty sure she's from some kind of Buffyverse-like hellworld, and is probably the result of some Slayer type magically merging with her beloved guard dog. She's a shaggy punk with a maternal streak and a foul mouth, and I love her so much.

I desperately needed someone who could do CALM AND COLLECTED in the midst of a crisis. Tigers, zebras, raccoons... ain't that. =n.n;=

Trying to put a positive spin on this earache: it's the easiest tolerance break I've had in ages.

Every time I look over at the bong, the voice of my Inner Fretful Australian Shepherd (remind me to tell you critters about my new headfriend Brill sometime! she's awesome!) just puts her virtual paw on my shoulder and wuffs, "Nope. Sorry. Hard no."

When this is finally over, I am gonna have SO MUCH WEED on hand. Brace yourselves. I might be insufferably weird even by my standards for a few days. XD

Maybe it's the earache talking, but I've been lying here inert all day, reading depressing news and depressing stories from people I care about, and pondering just how many layers upon layers of ugly, corrupt, ignorant social institutions we'd have to destroy in order to have a decent world to live in.

Even if we fix America, despite all the best efforts of the right wing to prevent it, the other two superpowers seem to be doubling down on abusive gaslighting totalitarianism. All I can say is if there's anyone out there looking to radicalize middle-aged queers... you've picked the right time.

i am spending trans day of visiblilty cringing and hiding in bed with an earache and yeah that's pretty much how my gender plays out vis a vis real trans people so it feels pretty appropriate

bad thing is i am on my way to the clinic for an earache and i think this is that last straw thats put me into full panic "things are falling apart" mode, between that and the power going out in Pegs studio last night

good news is our neighbor who adopted the kittens was out on his porch and i got to see my babies again! 😻😻😻 they looked real healthy and happy and had no interest in the outdoor life, everything i hoped for for them!

@KinkyTurtle I think intentional ambiguity is a huge recurring theme in Talking Heads lyrics in general-- e.g. I've never quite figured out whether No Compassion is meant to be ironic, and I know music critics have HOTLY debated the topic-- so I suspect both connected and unconnected are valid interpretations by design. It just seems like the sort of thing Unca David would do.
