Yup. She's OK.

We got a panicky text saying she was without water, power, or lights and was nearly out of phone battery. Poor thing has a rudimentary grasp of modern phones at best and might be a tad senile so I suspect she just panicked and reached out to the last contact on her text messages. She told us to contact her friends, the ones who checked on our place this morning and spotted one of the tabbies, and then she went totally incommunicado.

I used my (godlike, frankly =^_^=) research skills to dig up a phone database <s>that i totally do not use to stalk minor GOP officials</s> and found her full name and address. We tried multiple emergency numbers to no avail, and then Peg had the genius idea that she recalled the name of her apartment building and should check for an emergency number.

Someone has since looked in on her and she is OK. They are presumably getting her assistance and some phone charge.

And shit do I REALLY need a nap and some shitty food now. I might eat the entire rest of my mom's gnocchi and bracciole. I might just go the fuck to Taco Bell and eat shitty nachos until I pass out.

I have absolutely no idea why she didn't contact her senior home's front desk, but... on the other hand, I can't IMAGINE this woman being able to do an Internet search on her phone competently, let alone while in a panic.

Fuuuuuuucck that was a weird experience.

Instead of actually getting to take a break and decompress I think Peg and I might have just saved Crazy Cat Lady's life, or at least made it a lot less uncomfortable and scary.

There is about a 90% chance that either Artie or Shemp has been spotted alive and mobile.

No word on the others. The feeders had a lot on their plates and I doubt they stayed long. They said nothing about the house being collapsed or anything, also good. And it's still rainy in NOLA so I suspect any other survivors are hiding out.

I pray to Bast whoever they found is just the advance scout and in a few minutes they'll be mewing "HEY! FOOD!" at the others.

Shutting down for a while. Much of the recent news is *potentially* good but tenuous enough that it's just making the suspense far worse. I just need to get my mouth off of the information firehose after four days of frantic Ida-related research and networking.

It's looking like at least several of our worst-case scenarios are unlikely, in that there is some kind of city to return to and low odds of a follow-up storm this week. We'll see re: house/cats.
