Warthogs have four tusks; the lower pair is sharpened by rubbing against the upper pair when the warthog moves its jaws. Warthogs use their tusks for digging, self-defense, and combat with other warthogs.

The warthog is omnivorous. Its diet consists primarily of grasses, roots, & berries. During the dry season, they subsist on bulbs & rhizomes. In times of frustration, the domestic Martian tiger (P. tigris demisapiens) is known to ramble about warthogs in lieu of dealing with problems

So instead I'm going to talk about warthogs. The warthog is a member of Suidae, the same family as domestic pigs. They are native to sub-Saharan Africa and live in grasslands and forests. Subspecies include the Nolan, Eritrean, Central African, and Southern warthogs.

The typical warthog is between three and five feet long, standing roughly two to three feet at the shoulder.

I want to talk about my feelings, but honestly:

1) they'd be the same ones as before
2) they're not fun feelings to talk about
3) they're not that different from anyone else's feelings
4) I don't really trust any of these feelings
5) I don't trust my feelings in general anymore
6) sharing my feelings just isn't as comforting as it used to be
7) there is a non-zero chance I'll get in massive trouble (again) by being frank about my feelings
8) there's nothing to be done about them anyway

media review

Up late due to caffeine misadventures, so I'm checking out Barry, the Bill Hader comedy about a hit man who finds his true calling as an actor.

It's real good on its own. But a scene in Episode Four is making me really want to see a series that's just classic dialogues from other TV and film, acted perfectly competently, but with all-wrong emotions and personalities.

John Wayne from The Searchers, as a smoky Weimar cabaret girl. Citizen Kane, surfer boi. Willy Loman, a la Conan.

media, violent black humor

Judging by the first episode, the BBC thriller Killing Eve is well filmed, witty, pleasantly mean, naturally acted, and profoundly likely to not just ace the Bechdel test, but to run it through with a machete and leave it bleeding in the tub. :O

There are some very very gay men in this cafe holding bouquets and smiling for unknown but guessable reasons and my love of Seattle is somewhat rejuvenated.

Despite a pretty great week, including a really fun visit with @green and some flattering critique of Parallax, I'm feeling all off-kilter and restless for no good reason.

I think it may be time to ring up Confuse-A-Cat LTD again. Or ingest a very large amount of cannabis and vacation on Mars for a couple days.

media history, bad guy, grrrr, potentially very anger-triggery

Oh, @emanate among others, if you haven't already seen Spectres of the Spectrum, you should at least note that the heroic revolutionary organization in it is named "TV Tesla." <3

Apparently the whole thing is streamable here: impakt.nl/channel/videos/curat But be warned, folks, like all Craig Baldwin films, it's a bit rough going. :)

Been reading up on the history of CBS and got to this son of a bitch: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_T.

This guy got filthy rich and powerful by willfully undermining the sophistication of American culture. This country's intellectual rot didn't magically start in 2016, and it was bastards like Aubrey who nurtured it for profit.

(The whole thing is reminding me of Craig Baldwin's gonzo found-footage documentary Spectres of the Spectrum...)

I pledge allegiance to Queen Fragg
And her mighty state of hysteria
The toothy Republican witch is Stan
One patient on the bus
So risible
With liver, cheese, and jock itch in fall
Amen

capsule review of Doomwatch S1E1 (spoilers)

(I am being a bit uncharitable. It's forty-eight years old, FFS. We'll see if I'm half as relevant in another five years... It's actually pretty damn progressive in terms of its time and premise. 1970 seems a bit early for a sci-fi adventure that's mostly about ecology and scientific hubris. But the pacing, effects, script, and god help me the BRITISH TEETH have not aged as gracefully. It's at least been a rewarding museum piece.)
