Furry ain't getting any more mainstream than this.

(Mr. Fischoeder, the landlord from Bob's Burgers. This, um, isn't uncharacteristic behavior from him, actually.)

bad kitty stuff

One of the great joys of the internet furry culture: finding out that two people you separately loathed for totally separate reasons are actually just different names for the same selfish piece of shit. ^__^

(Someone who was pointlessly mean to Peg once turned out to be the same person who alienated most of a forum I was on with various forms of Social Justice Axe-Murderer behavior. I'm all happy now: technically, that's one less person to hate, and don't we all want that? 😺)

I present you with that most modern of medieval conventions, the hunger stone:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunger_s

It's dour. It's doomful. It provides absolutely no useful, actionable information besides "you're screwed." It directs its sarcasm towards all the wrong people. And it's unaware that by its very existence, it actually rests as proof that history marched on and we were NOT in fact all killed by drought.

In other words, it's medieval leftist Twitter.

"It would be naive to depend on the Supreme Court to defend the rights of poor people, women, people of color, dissenters of all kinds. Those rights only come alive when citizens organize, protest, demonstrate, strike, boycott, rebel, and violate the law in order to uphold justice." -- progressive.org/op-eds/howard-

Zinn has a real good point there. Progress was going to come from us, not the system, no matter what.

God, and the blurbs are just an endless parade of shitty people from the AEI and Cato.

I need to spend about a week immersed in the company of people who aren't like him, but... well... that has its own complications right now, and it's all depressing as fuck, and... I think I'm going back to bed. -_-

Wanna shank this reductionist shit. Leave it to an economist to dismiss the ideal of an educated polity with some critical thinking skills as "romantic notions about education being 'good for the soul.'" I guess I could expect no better, since this POS Brian Caplan clearly has no soul of his own to feed.

I wrote him a very nasty letter. Maybe actionable, in this day and age, I don't know. I don't care.

Practice your cognitive dissonance skills every day. The Republicans are way ahead of us, having honed theirs every day by convincing themselves they're still Christians.

It's funny, I don't often stop and think about how my background differs from that of my friends who were raised on the coasts and were *never* conservative, nor Christian, nor had conservative friends. I'm here with you after leaving them in utter disgust, so just imagine how personal this all is for some of us...

If the American Left were up against Darkseid instead of Trump, Twitter and Masto would be full of hundreds of thousands of copies of the Anti-Life Equation, boosted by well-intentioned activists who think constantly reminding you the enemy exists, and is undefeatably terrible, is somehow equivalent to fighting it.

Meanwhile, I'm rereading everything Wikipedia has to say about the rise of Hitler, and marveling at all the numerous ways in which we're actually *much less* screwed...

slightly better after some breakfast and an unexpected dose of optimism from a friend ^_^

Yeah, I can feel the Snark Magma starting to boil up under my crust. I'm getting out of here before I bite something. Have a day, folks.

re: mood, uspol (--)

(And if you're thinking, "Hmmm, I should reply to this with an insistence that jackbooted federal thugs are certain to roll down the street and crack our heads for the slightest dissent at any moment," maybe you should take a moment to ponder which is a more immediate danger: a senile emperor with a pompadour, or a nine-foot-tall tiger with no remaining patience for defeatism. >:D )

As predicted, I am not dealing great with the state of things and will probably indulge myself in a minimal-energy day.

All I can say is, as good as the opposition is at exploiting the rules in their favor, we still solidly outnumber them. Maybe it's time to start living as if they're in an entirely different nation, and their laws have absolutely no authority over us, because that's probably where this is all headed anyhow.

Live in a way that unnerves them. That's all I got.

It's the end of an era. I have finished the bottle of Jeppson's Malört, the notorious nightmare-flavored liqueur that Peg bought me a bottle of several months ago.

So. Any Eastern religion fans out there familiar with the concept of Mappō?

Yeah.

"Upon hearing this, absolutely nobody was enlightened." -- Principia Discordia, p.00048

Okay, I think the tiger fuse has been replaced. And all it took was three pints of beer, two shots of Malört, and an eighth of Permafrost.

I think it's time to step away from Mastodon. The emotional circuit breaker has popped, and nothing else useful can come from this account until it is reset.
