(-, cw:death, I'm fine, I'm always fine)
You really do feel things snap when you do chest compressions on someone after their heart stops.
Worst monday at work ever.
(-, cw:death, I'm fine, I'm always fine)
@Momentrabbit that's so awful, i am sorrry :(
(-, cw:death, I'm fine, I'm always fine)
@Momentrabbit Oh gods. ****hughughughug**** At least they had more of a chance than had you not been there.
re: (-, cw:death, I'm fine, I'm always fine)
@porsupah ... and just heard back from the hospital. They've pronounced.
I want to go home now, please. *sigh*
re: (-, cw:death, I'm fine, I'm always fine)
@Momentrabbit Ah, hell. ***hughughug***
You and the paramedics did everything possible, that's the main thing.
What, they haven't just let you go home already?
re: (-, cw:death, I'm fine, I'm always fine)
@Momentrabbit Oh shit. D:
I hope you're doing okay there, I know the aftermath makes everybody really really shaky after all the extra neurochemicals go away...
re: (-, cw:death, I'm fine, I'm always fine)
Thank you so much for taking action, @Momentrabbit; that was incredibly brave of you and I am proud to call you my friend.
I've also lost someone I performed CPR on-- if you need someone to talk to or just to listen and understand, my ear is yours. Any platform you like, voice, video or text.
(-, cw:death, I'm fine, I'm always fine)
@Momentrabbit Oh no. I'm sorry.
(-, cw:death, I'm fine, I'm always fine)
@Momentrabbit Holy shit, I'm so sorry.
*offers gentle hugs*
(-, cw:death, I'm fine, I'm always fine)
@Momentrabbit sending my thoughts and my energy; please do take care of yourself
(-, cw:death, I'm fine, I'm always fine)
yikes! yeah CPR can be a mess. how terrible that you had to do it, but how good of you to have done it
(-, cw:death, I'm fine, I'm always fine)
Moment... what... happened???
re: (-, cw:death, I'm fine, I'm always fine)
@JulieSqveakaroo Coworker went out for a smoke break. Boss found him on the pavement, smoke still smoldering. Boss yelled for help, bunch of us ran out. Coworker was still breathing then. Ambulance called.
Put him into recovery position, loosened tight clothing, cleared airway, monitored breathing and pulse. Breathing slowed, pulse slowed. Pulse stopped. Put him into CPR position. Son started full beathing and compressions. Son began to collapse, I took over compressions. Maintained compressions until ambulance arrived. Handed over on request to paramedics once they'd hooked up the defib around me.
He had a chance. Defib went off twice, there has to be some heart activity to...
...
I may not be fine.
"A friend here at work had a heart attack, Julie. I'm sad."

@Momentrabbit *Hugs very softly*
It sounds like you did everything right... definitely gave him a better chance at surviving, and sometimes that's the best that can be done.
It's not ever an easy thing, and I am so proud of you!
re: (-, cw:death, I'm fine, I'm always fine)
@Momentrabbit @JulieSqveakaroo Holy crap, Moment.
I'm so sorry. My words are meaningless, but I'm so sorry.
