Things I love about the Seattle area: Teriyaki shops
It's just a thing out here, like Taquerias in the south west. Privately owned shops offering most of the same menu; tasty chicken teriyaki being the usual star of the show.
It's the blue collar dish of choice for many out here; construction crews breaking for lunch in one of these tiny shops is just as common as office workers doing the same.
I think that's kind of beautiful, honestly.
@vahnj You can get a similar experience at the taquerias in CA-- but the primary language will not be English ^^;;
@mawr I adore how many teriyaki shops there are out there. <333
I miss me some chicken katsu like woah. *licks lips*
@neonNeptunian @mawr I'm over here drooooooling
@Oneironott @mawr @neonNeptunian Even more reason do get ya down here. Red makes killer katsu of all sorts.
@neonNeptunian @mawr When you get back here I'm taking you to the Nori presto. We can both order large chicken katsu bentos and roll back to the car as oblate spheroids. <3
@KoBunny @neonNeptunian Yaaay!! Bring mawrs along! We love us some Nori Presto. :9
@mawr @neonNeptunian The woman at the counter recognized me something like 9 months after I'd moved out of the area. They're pretty great! <3
@KoBunny @neonNeptunian @mawr Yessss I reliably choose to go to Nori Presto over closer options because it really is just better.
@mawr I super miss cheap fast chicken teriyaki. I had a list of favorite places... nowdays it's too difficult to find it gluten-free; I have to either search diligently (and still take a risk sometimes), or just skip and have it at home. homemade is really good, but it's just not the same... :P
@green Awww! That's right, soy sauce. ;~; *offers hugs*
@mawr someday somebody will bring forth technology (or something) to let me eat gluten without problems and then! ALL THE TERIYAKI, YES. meanwhile it's on my top five list of things I miss, along with donuts and Guinness. XD
@mawr I missed it so much when I was in CA
