Today I engaged in...drive by voting?!

(Seattle has mail in ballots. Election deadline was approaching, the drop box was a madhouse. As I walked up someone handed me a ballot from their car window to drop off..)

@mawr Yup. Most US police are more like occasionally useful highway robbers than public servants, and they get training that makes them so paranoid.

@mawr that's how London does it, iirc. If an armed response is actually needed, they have a separate unit for that. Works fine

Concept that came to mind: you have the space operas where humans are Special and Key to the Galaxy, right?

This turns that on it's head. Everyone thinks that humanity created a Star Trek style utopia but actually all the aliens are more advanced and manipulating the humans to keep them busy / because they're cute. Probably via some flavor of mind control tech because that's always fun and let's them make a custom "empire" for everyone

Today's work includes experimenting with production data because they don't give me a test system or clear manuals and randomly learning what day a co worker first got laid. ok then.
