"I'll put it on my to-do list"
-- never gonna happen
-- sounds pretentious
-- who has time for to-do lists?

"I'll add it to my quest log."
-- life is an adventure
-- chance to use +2 shortsword again
-- guaranteed to get done, especially if it comes with a cheevo

@Soreth I'm one of those in the quarter, so yeah, I feel ya. For now, though... virtual* hugs!

re: Health and its polar opposite, health insurance. (--)

@packbat It's not even new garbage. It's the exact same garbage Anthem pulled. And they pull it because it always fucking works.

Oh, but wait! There's hope! I can appeal with help from their internal review team, and then request help from an external review team hand-picked by Kaiser Permanente! coughs

I'm just glad they let me know all this before I went to a bunch of sessions they won't pay for! Oh, wait, they're backdating the withdrawal of authorization to April 14.

Same garbage, different names, all while I get worse care than I did before. Yet again, the greatest threat to my health is my health insurance provider.

Seattle renting and real estate (public post)

@Aradia And the economic power imbalance screws over all parties involved. The lack of any external safety net generates a fear of what happens when someone has to go looking for another place to live... and when something non-monetary goes wrong, folks are forced to continue cohabitating while everyone's sanity erodes, or forced to pull apart in a way nobody ever wanted or deserved.

I'm pissed that I've had relationships crumble because of money.

Health and its polar opposite, health insurance. (--)

Kaiser Permanente is refusing to "authorize" any more TMS treatments because they're working.

a list of games featuring characters that are POC in the itch.io bundle for racial justice

@frameacloud There's also "Tonight We Riot"... though the player character is just whoever happens to be the point person for a diverse, randomized group of folks, and if the point character dies, another random member of the group takes the job. Playing a single level often involves swapping between all sorts of folks!

remixing a point we've made before about 🏳️‍🌈 and who it's about (270 words, cw: cisheteronormativity)

We live in a society that's established a pretty rigid normal - see packbat.dreamwidth.org/300909. (698 words) if you want elaboration on that word - about how we should relate to gender, to romance, and to sex.

When a baby is born, they are placed in one of two boxes and raised by a family of people from these two boxes. As they grow, they are expected to develop an identity conforming to the box they are placed in and retain that identity for the rest of their life. As they grow further, they are expected to develop a drive to seek first romance, then sex, from people in the other of those two boxes - who are assumed to be people who were placed in that other box and remained in that other box - and to find those drives met by the resultant relationships. They are expected to pair singularly and exclusively with one such person and to do what they can to remain paired thus. And they are expected to sustain this system.

What 🏳️‍🌈 means to us is that this system doesn't work. It's damaging and unnecessary. And who 🏳️‍🌈 is about is the people whose existence proves that the system is damaging and unnecessary.

Happy Pride to intersex people, nonbinary people, ace people, aro people, polyam people, and relationship anarchists. Happy Pride to polysexual, bisexual, and pansexual people. Happy Pride to trans people, to lesbians, and to gay people. We exist, we deserve to exist, and we deserve a world that believes us and nurtures us.

@LexYeen@snouts.online Oh, I like that.

"You're destroying history!"

"No, we're just putting it in its appropriate context."

ALttPR "glitch"?

@Goldkin Ah, thanks! I hadn't seen it before, or I didn't recall seeing it. I'd be tempted to start learning more glitches, but I'm bad enough with normal randomized gameplay. grin

ALttPR "glitch"?

Steps to reproduce:

1) Defeat Agahnim.
2) Warp to Dark World without the Moon Pearl.
3) As a bunny, run to the "Pyramid Ledge", find, and retrieve the Moon Pearl.
4) Become able to swing sword and run like normal Link... but maintain bunny appearance until taking damage, bonking, falling, or the like. Warping back to the Light World maintains this status.

Not a big deal, but it was a bit startling!

@typhlosion I come from a land of 60Hz, but I respect your 50Hz as a worthy equal.

the game is rigged. in 2 weeks of protesting we've accomplished more than we have in over 50 years of 'playing nice' with these clowns. I am not taking a single step backward ever again to get back to 'normal;' normal was a state built on police brutality and economic oppression.

Turns out, pulling a statue down can sometimes teach people a lot more about history than leaving it standing would have.

me, brain-poisoned by code testing: your tests coverage is lacking, you need to check for 0 hand clapping, 1.5 hand, -1 hand clapping, "1;DROP TABLE claps" clapping,
