Remember all those times you wanted to print a black-and-white document but couldn't because your printer was out of yellow ink?

Epson remembers.

Someone mentioned Castlevania and I automatically found myself thinking of Your Asshole Dad’s Castle Is Back Again:

@packbat Thank you for posting this... and thank you for writing it in the way you have.

@noiob You'd think folks would have figured this shit out somewhere between 2001 and 2012, but tradition seems to outweigh sortability. When I have to fill in (by pen) an unlabelled __/__/__, it gets YYYY-MM-DD because this is how I maintain an iota of control in a world gone mad they've got to learn sometime.

@Leucrotta Neat! Those are the little things that make the setting such a joy. :)

fun Twitter linguistics thread about a specific form of word construction from a tiny little span of time that left a pile of oddball words in its wake: twitter.com/dtmooreeditor/stat

Sui mention, anger and apparently mildly triggered

@Leucrotta So I'm not the only one to notice this. I suppose they want quantity, not quality. *hugs*

@noiob I have an LCD panel that definitely does a weird row-by-row dithering thing that really screws with scanline-type imagery. Fortunately, this doesn't seem to mess up CRT shaders for low-res systems, but for higher-res stuff with thinner horizontal lines, it can be a bit noticeable.

And yes, everything's better with scanline effects. I highly recommend this for TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, for example. Perhaps even on an OLED!

Temperamental divination.

So I've been doing two single-card draws from two different decks that were gifted to me a couple months ago. I ask the same question of each: "Through what point will my day take me?" Each deck has its own personality, so I end up with some interesting messages...

The Rainbow Unicorn Tarot is the snarky one. It loves to give reads that are accurate in oblique ways, and more often for specific moments than overall theme.

The Crystal Unicorn Tarot is the honest but slightly confused one. There's no telling whether the upright or reverse reading is the right one, but whichever it is will be significantly as a strong theme over the course of the day.

Today, Rainbow gave me the Wheel of Fortune.

Crystal gave me the Tower.

I dunno what that's gonna mean, but I feel like I should call what few relatives I have left to make sure everything's all right...

Geez, why is Illustrator so slow this morning? It's not like this document has 1877 individual paths with opacity masks nested into groups that each have their own opacity mask. Sheesh!

Ducktales spoiler

@Owlor My pause-to-laugh bit is a simple one:

Webby: "Who's the evil triplet?"

Huey and Dewey: *point to Dewey* "Him."

Louie: *shrug* "Ennh."

AI art

@Owlor I could see an argument being made for AI art as a tool for inspiration, much in the same way that Markov-chain-generated prose would be. Art is found in the creation and operation of the system, not so much its output.

I also feel that anyone who takes artistic credit for unaltered AI-generated output needs to understand that it's only art if it passes through further creative process, otherwise it's just sparkling plaigarism.
