LaTeX is versatile, but I can't imagine doing anything clever with it in a spontaneous fashion; it's complicated enough when one goes in with a plan. By contrast, InDesign has reliable easy-to-reach busybox factor going for it. I can drag around multi-column layouts and watch them rebalance in realtime. With LaTeX I gotta recompile and wade through 6d20 warning messages just to see if adding italics blew up the whole layout.

What I'm saying is that I love them both for different reasons.

@noiob I've seen several examples of inkwells used for style and not a single one of them has been appealing.

LaTeX has some really neat features! One I just discovered is that it's possible to set up a table of contents such that its title disappears on every other compile with no changes to the source.

ADHD brain: "Nope! Tired, don't wanna focus, can't possibly do the thing."

me: "Fine, I'll go get a nap." *lies down*

body: *too awake to rest*

me: *stands up to head back to computer*

brain and body in collusion: "Yeah, let's stare aimlessly at a bright rectangle and yawn a lot!"

Fortunately, this only tends to happen on the one day a week I don't take my Adderall. Still, it's so thoroughly frustrating....
