Adobe software, disturbing typography.

Replacing Segoe UI in Windows 10 can greatly improve readability and aesthetics, but there are occasional side effects. For example, if a program ignores good practice by insisting too hard on having Segoe UI and ignoring the substitutions table, the font offered up may not be appropriate for the task.

But you know, Antifa is bad because they wrecked some garbage cans.

Proof that my current mental health regimen is working very well: I'm getting back into capsaicin. 🌶

Hey folks, I'll be writing about Kwanzaa ALL WEEK on my blog. I want to introduce the holiday to folks who've only heard about it while also talking about why it's personally significant to me. :)

I think I might set up a regex filter for "boost if you agree".

Boost if you—

Ennh, nevermind.

Fellow videogame music lovers:

youtube.com/watch?v=TiHARNmz5f is a playlist of a single representative track from every single one of Konami's Famicom and NES games in chronological order. This takes two hours – but it's two solid hours of some very, very good music, with annotations that point out sound engine upgrades, notable composers, and other neat trivia.

Of course, it starts a little simplistic, but you get to hear the evolution of some of the greatest stuff out there. I approve!

... I've recapitulated Captain Eo. With sex. But not with Anjelica Huston's character. I think that's okay.

Or, just listen to the soundtrack here: youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2B

I especially like the Rusty Ruin, Volcano Valley, Diamond Dust, and Panic Puppet Act 2 tracks. Basically, everything Tatsuyuki Maeda did.

Sonic 3D Blast Director's Cut (Genesis) dropped yesterday. Video and links: youtube.com/watch?v=5nBeppQgFG

I've never actually liked this game that much, though I really wanted to. The Director's Cut fixes up a lot of the stuff that made it extra frustrating to play and adds some very nice touches. I don't think it's become a _good_ game, but it's no longer such a terrible waste of effort. The graphics are actually pretty sweet and most of the music is amazing. Give it a try!

Mental health – in the positive!

As the benefit of the TMS becomes clearer, the more I say the words, "Depression is ugly, because it makes it so much harder to $ACTIVITY so everything just keeps getting worse."

$ACTIVITY could be any of:
• clean (house|self|anything)
• maintain (friendships|health|anything)
• fulfil (obligations|desires|anything)
• enjoy (good things|myself|anything)
• feel... anything

It's like I've been half-asleep for a long time, but I'm waking up a little more each day.

Videogame music.

FUCK YEAH VIDEOGAME MUSIC

gimme dem beeps

EVERY DAY IS HAPPY VGM DAY

And it's less than half an hour, which means even my attention span can survive it. *grin*

It turns out that a Let's Play of _Mickey Mania_ (Genesis) played by the game's programmer is heckin' sweet. He bashfully admits that he must have been absurdly bored to code all those gorgeous miniature tech demos in.

You also get to see some frankly abominable gameplay of the sort that can result when a high-performing tech geek isn't also a design geek. Lots of awkwardness. It's actually really charming, though!

"I'm sorry," I said. "Based on this personality-trait cluster, even if we did turn you into a cartoon you'd only be one, maybe two educational shorts. Explaining how subtraction works or what ancient peoples were like."

He quivered. "Like the Mesopotamians?" he squeaked.

In that motion I knew I was wrong. He would become a long-running series of educational short cartoons.

No, I never imagined how long. I didn't suspect until "Take a Deep Breath: Your Respiratory System". I was slow.

CALLING ALL POSTFURRIES

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to recapitulate the storyline of the Pied Piper of Hamelin as queer transhumanist fiction, with Fully Automated Gay Luxury Space Communism in place of the Faerie Veil.

This _includes_ the threat of inflicting bizarre, permanent transformations on interlopers, rather than stoop to mere vulgar murder. As revenge for stealing our economy, we turn their children into queer leftist space monsters.

Since it's appropriate in name only, enojy a bit of my most favourite videogame music ever: the title theme from the NES game _Solstice._

If you've never heard it before, don't be put off by the fact that it's NES music – I cannot gush sufficiently about the quality of this piece.

Also, there was a time when I could clear the game on one credit with 100% completion. I never consulted a single guide or anything – I just loved it that much. The music is part of why!

Super Metroid with randomised items.

This screenshot shows my inventory just after fighting Draygon and before picking up my reward, normal Bombs.

Notes:
• Yeah, I had to navigate all Bomb stuff with Super Bombs – and until recently, only ten!
• Check out my Super Missile capacity. Reminds me of having over 👑0 lives in Super Mario Bros.!
• Gravity Suit before Varia. Wacky.
• Still no Charge Beam or Ice Beam. Argh!
• Fighting Draygon with no Grapple Beam is horrible.
