Today's Videogame-Soundtrack-Related Poignant Moment
That feeling when you're listening to a new soundtrack rip (in this case, the SPC dump of _Tin Star_ from the SNES) and your favorite track turns out to have gone unused in the actual game. Kind of like when a great soundtrack goes unheard outside the development team until many years later because the game was never finished or released (like _Green Lantern_ from the SNES). Good stuff hidden for so long!

hmm...picking out orange juice is always a hard choice...do i want "no pulp"
[LABEL SHOWS A PEACEFUL, SUN-BATHED ORANGE GROVE AT DAWN]
or do i want "EXTREME PULP"
[LABEL SHOWS A HARD-BITTEN DETECTIVE PUNCHING OUT A GANGSTER WHILE A SHADOWY FIGURE WITH A DAGGER MENACES A SULTRY BLONDE IN A LURID RED DRESS]
...beer it is then.
Retrogame romhack pet peeve.
The very definition of diappointment is when I find an interesting-sounding romhack and see that they've spent all kinds of time with gameplay modifications and level edits and the like... and then decided that since they can't do graphics worth a damn they're still got to change _something_ and thus replace the fonts (and frequently, just the numerals). The results are never good.
I think I'd pay some of these folks to let me do a better job... but there are so many decent bitmapped fonts out there that they already didn't bother choosing, so why would they want anything I made?
Cancel culture can be the best mechanism for online communities to defend themselves against bad faith-actors, and it can also be a tool by which bad faith actors conflate small disagreements into big fights (usually an effort by the instigator to win folks over to their side and consolidate community and power around themselves)
These two things can be true at the same time

vegetarian food and meat substitutes – a long thread
So whether or not you're vegetarian or vegan, cutting down on your meat intake is a good idea for various reasons – high among them being environmental concerns and overuse of antibiotics on farms. It would be foolish to think otherwise.
The thing is, some cultures have been using meat substitutes in food for centuries. Either for religious reasons, like some schools of Buddhism, or among people who don't always have access to meat. So it can be worth following their example.
Humans are not evolved to be herbivores, and I really don't like all the people who say "go vegan" without also telling people exactly what that means. So in case anyone finds it useful, here's a little thread about meat substitutes to include in your diet, and nutrients to make sure you're getting enough of!
Capitalism hellworld, digital slavery, omnipresent landlord everything
This needs to fucking stop.
Otherwise we will not legally "own" anything. Every single damn thing we use will only be "rented" subject to being revoked from us at any time for any reason.
