It's not that I don't _do_ anything when the depression gets bad.

For example, one thing I do is think about what I would say if there were the slimmest possibility of my being able to say it face-to-face with anyone anywhere who could actually change the system that allows my health insurance to barricade my access to the one treatment that I've ever found that genuinely lets me _heal_ from my chronic depression.

So, you know. I get a lot done.

*wakes screaming, sheets soaked in a cold sweat*

"a... Alexa?"

"I'm here! Can I help you?"

"Could... Could you collect childrens' personal information from birth announcements, phones, tablets, searches and social media for 18 years, building a shadow profile of them without ever actually *using* it until they were of legal age, and then market to them using a perfect predictive copy of their every want and desire?"

"Could I _ever._"

You are allowed to do stuff just because you want to.

Even if it uses up all your spoons/matches.

Even if it leaves your exhausted and broken the next day.

Even if you need to let other stuff slide a bit while you recover.

You are allowed to have fun, to go out, to take a day once in a while and do what you want with it.

Being #disabled, or #chronicallyill, or a #parent, etc doesn't mean you can't take time for you.

(I needed to hear this today, so I figured other folks might too.)

Oops, I Did Music For This! (episode 1)

Oops, I Did Music For This! (episode 1)

I only just now learned of another actual published video game product that contains my music: the Advance Game Port by Datel for the GameCube.

Here's a review of the device it's part of. You'll see one of the parts I worked on (be patient!)... but you won't hear the music in it. I'll link to that in a bit.

The good news: I finished a project I'd been grinding at for a while!

The bad news: It's not the project I actually needed to work on _today._

Welcome back, weirder.earth, formerly a.weirder.earth! Stay weird!

(their admin is still @dzuk)

Step 1: Find a great breakfast place, sit, order, get ready for a great meal while working on project for a friend.

Step 2: Discover that both wifi and cell data are non-existent in this particular spot, but all the source files I need are online.

Step 3: Enjoy breakfast, at least? *sigh*

Infinity War Spicy Take

Given the power cosmic and the Malthusian dread of overpopulation, Thanos' solution was to eliminate half the people, not double the resources.

Tell me he's not a Republican.

Henlo frens-- A dear friend of mine needs your help!

Her name is Natasha; she's disabled and trans, living in the DC area. She lost her job shortly after the car wreck that took the regular use of her legs from her. But good news!! It sounds like she's about to be extended a job offer that should get her financially stable again! She's way short on rent this month though and could really use some help!

As you enter a town, you see a sign saying "Population: 1,204".

"That can't be right," you say. "The encyclopedia says this town has 1,186 residents. Obviously the sign is wrong."

This is what prescriptivism based on dictionary entries sounds like.

OneShot (non-spoilery)

After many delays, I finally finished up OneShot.

Without giving anything away, I'll say that the game really is a single question, both well-asked and well-answered.

Thanks to everyone who recommended it to me!

There's a cold going around!

If you don't hear much from me today – yeah, like I'm such a nonstop tooter normally – it's because I've caught some illness that's making it very uncomfortable to.. anything.

Don't worry, already got my needs covered, thanks to my wife. Still, it'd be nice to get some sleep. It's 35 o'clock in my world. *zombie*

It's important to state for the record that we don't decide who is a bird. If you say you are, you are. If tegus can be good scaly doggos and bats are flappy puppers, you can be a bird if that's what you decide. Rigid categorization is for undergrads.
