also I suppose I didn't have anything that would attract the bugs, but I could have just used a lightbulb for that. This one uses blacklights so that's nice--if I ever need a source of UV I have something more powerful than a tiny LED

I got a bug zapper yesterday because I have been dealing with occasional bursts of fruit flies (still don't know what was attracting them) and was fed up with them.

Then I realized--I have, in my apartment, everything I would need--along with the knowledge--to make my own.

I also, however, had the knowledge that I don't have the proper understanding of safety requirements and would rather not make something that would just shock me too.

aside: that thing is LOUD when it zaps a bug.

Thinking about huge pantsbulges on super-busty guys >w>

Wild ARMs 2 spoilers

....Wild ARMs 2 gets even more weird. Apparently there's a parallel universe from the Kuiper belt that's eating the world. Only in a JRPG!

also apparently dragons are transformers in all but name

also this isn't just a case of that's... literally what is happening at this point in the game

*puts up a sign that says "50% off all beeps, today only!" it's not clear why, since it never charges for beeps anyway.*

Happy existence anniversary to @typhlosion and @yatchi because apparently both of them have birthdays today!

A wonderfully calm piece, Rising Tide is the background music for Teien, a quiet, calm port town on the shore of Lake Toran.

Musically, the piece is slow and soothing, with sampled birds and waves mixed in. The melody comes and goes, with first comparatively long pauses and later long, repetitive phrases to draw one's attention to the ambiance. It's just a beautifully put together piece.

Hey @vahnj just thought I'd say, I really appreciate what you've done with this instance ^.^

spaceaustralia.com.au/ there's no way this is actually an official Australian government thing is it?

but then, Australia is about the one country I could see naming a major government undertaking ARSE so

*continues to be annoyed that nowhere sells birch beer around here*

...hm. Maybe I should try a health foods place. I think there's a fresh market not far from here.

☃ this is from long before the emoji were added to unicode--someone deemed it important enough to have a snowman that they put one in the misc. symbols block

what is the point of this unicode character

you know, I've just realized... I think mastodon is possibly the first public-ish place I've been on where I feel like I'm accepted and liked for who I am, rather than for what I do or as something to be studied and understood (i've had more than one person who just... wants to know everything about me or something like that and it's honestly kind of offputting)

I have learned that apparently some people do not know of the pure essence of frozen deliciousness that is fruit gelatos.... how do you live without even knowing about gelato ;.;

Wild ARMs 2 is weird. One major enemy is a dragon who is also a nuclear explosive. No I don't know how that works.
