https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUgGTWtSwRY okay this is an amusing concept
no-experience speedrun of pokemon red, where the game is hacked to skip the experience system altogether. pokemon never level up. the brock fight is done by getting a bunch of level 5 pidgey and spearow, using a ton of sand attacks, and just praying they don't land a hit through that -6 accuracy while your birds repeatedly peck at his rocks doing one damage per turn
okay, something is wrong with our new laptop
whenever there's video playing, something called "waves maxxaudio service application" starts eating up 15% of CPU time, which maxes out one core and puts high usage on at least one other
searching turns up nothing conclusive, but there are people complaining about it
any advice?
re: tales of vesperia
this was going to have a second example in it but then i learned that temblors is actually a real word that makes sense in context, and not some kind of trainwreck typo of tremors
now it *would* be weird if they translated german as though it were the demonym and not a personal name, but I strongly doubt that would happen
re: Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition spoilers
@connie since I think you might find this mildly interesting
Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition spoilers
got it! took like twenty tries but eventually it worked
it's not really a glitch, since the game seems to handle it just fine--it's just weird and not something normally possible.
actually i didn't save after so i can still try to reproduce it!! going to do that, hold on
augh i feel really bad about not thinking in time to screen capture that glitch, it's important for archival stuff
can someone please provide reassurances or something
spoilers, reproducing the glitch re: tales of vesperia
for anyone interested in reproducing this not-exactly-glitch (which I would like to see since *dammit* I feel really bad about missing that screen recording): this was the knight at the top of the right-hand staircase in the room right past where you fight Yeager in Zaude. the cutscene that triggered was the one where Patty finds the Maris Stella
re: tales of vesperia
...should have screen recorded that but didn't think to until after posting this and it's been too long now
tales of vesperia
today we learned: it's possible to get a surprise encounter *and* an advantage encounter at the same time
by shooting an enemy with the sorcerer's ring the moment that you enter a cutscene area, while said enemy is near enough to the spot you spawn after the cutscene to trigger an encounter, on the rear of where you spawn, and get lucky that you get the dizzy effect instead of the angry or stunned effect
how the fuck did all that line up perfectly without even trying
