I guess I wasn't really expecting it to work but it was worth a try

I'm kind of sad that such an excellent pun of a name for a video game was taken by such a terrible, terrible game as Ninjabread Man.

Incidentally, the book this is from, Warbreaker, is available for free from the author as an ebook. It's an excellent book and I highly recommend reading it. brandonsanderson.com/warbreake

Had this quote on my mind today. It's one of my favorite quotes:

"Princess, you say every man thinks he’s on the right side, that every man who opposed you was deluding himself.” He met her eyes. “Didn’t you ever once stop to think that maybe you were the one on the wrong side?”

Brandon Sanderson, _Warbreaker_

If--and only if--you feel up to it, take a moment to think, are you on the right side? I'm not passing any judgment. I just think it's important for people to think about these things.

the Hearth :ms_agender_flag: boosted

“The alt-right are people who are just like us, so...”

WRONG: “...we should sympathize with them and try to understand their viewpoints.”

RIGHT: “...we should see their transformation into hateful monsters as all the more horrifying, and guard against that transformation in ourselves.”

much-delayed, the remaining three quarters of that beep.

I just... feel like I can't do anything to fix things that need to be fixed, and I have good friends who are in unpleasant situations and I don't know how to help them and I don't even know what the situations are because i don't know if it's appropriate to ask or if I can handle knowing in the first place or if it'd just accomplish nothing but worsening my mood because I can't help and ugh

how do I do things

I feel useless and kind of like i'm being an annoyance today x.x

@KawaSeadrake I am somewhat curious what this "bandaza" you keep referencing is. I don't really want to open the cws in case it's something I don't want to see though

In things about alternatives to carbon-based life, most of the time you see stuff about silicon-based analogues of organic molecules. But silanes are much less stable than the corresponding alkanes. But I just had a thought: What about polyphosphates? The standard 'phosphate' anion is PO₄³⁻ but there is also pyrophosphate which is two phosphates sharing an oxygen, P₂O₇⁴⁻, and this pattern can continue into long polymeric polyphosphates, which are generally stable.

And @Dex too, and any other writers who I can't seem to recall right now (i am bad at names)

Thing I really love: When people do random bits of worldbuilding. @Austin_Dern I'm looking at you!

what is it with nintendo and never reusing excellent musical themes in their black sheep entries in their series? The palace theme from Zelda 2 only ever got reused in Smash, and Surface of SR388 only ever got reused in the remake of the game it originated in, in a series that reuses musical themes all the time
