The Philippine government is gearing up for heavy militarization of the capital region's borders. This is a public health issue, and they send in the military.

Weeks ago, they passed amendments to the anti-terror law that greatly curb freedom of speech under the guise of protection from "communism" and other terrorist ideologies.

The virus is a terrible thing, but I'm more scared of what follows.

Worth adding to this, because I don't want to inadvertently add to any scaremongering:

• The WHO have noted that this is the first pandemic in history which is controllable
• Taking precautions is probably wise, but there's no reason to panic or worry unnecessarily
• Prevention slows the infection rate and makes things more manageable for doctors
• Wash your hands
